Job Title: Business Data Analyst

Department: Business Analytics & Strategy

Reports to: Manager, Partnership and Digital Insights

Position Summary:

The business data analyst will work strategically to support research, data aggregation/cleansing, and analysis in support of developing visualizations and providing insights for corporate partnerships, marketing, and other internal business stakeholders, while maintaining the integrity of the Lakers brand, partners, and fanbase. This position will work closely with the Manager of Partnership and Digital Insights in support of growing engagement of the Lakers fanbase across all platforms and providing strategic partnership insights, inclusive of data requests as they relate to growing partnerships through the International Team Marketing Program.

Key metrics used to evaluate performance:

  • Organizational skills / attention to detail with data aggregation and dashboard visualizations
  • Timeliness and accuracy of projects and requests
  • Translation of data into insights
  • Feedback from internal departments

Essential Functions (Duties & Responsibilities):

  • Maintain data in decks used for pitches, partnership renewals and other internal use cases
  • Create and implement tagging and tracking of digital and social media content for corporate partners and marketing initiatives across social accounts, Lakers website, mobile app, and email
  • Develop dashboards for decision-makers across multiple departments via data visualization tools, including but not limited to data from our social media accounts, website, mobile app, and email
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key business partners and stakeholders collaborating and communicating insights/recommendations clearly and concisely
  • Develop a rich understanding of the NBA, other sports leagues, the Lakers and fanbases to provide benchmarking insights and trends
  • Support assessment of vendor terms and services to ensure in-line with strategic priorities
  • Ad-hoc requests for internal departments (corporate partnerships, marketing, etc.) on categories, brands, and campaigns
  • Collaborate with intern on various projects


Education (Required/ Preferred): Bachelorโ€™s degree (preferably in Business, Statistics, or closely related field)

Previous experience:

  • A minimum of one to three (1-3) years working in consumer insights, market research, and or analytics


Technology Capabilities:

  • Microsoft Office (including Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint & Windows)
  • Data Visualization Tools (such as Power BI or Tableau)


Knowledge, skills, abilities:

  • Highly organized, motivated and able to prioritize and multi-task under the pressure of deadlines
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills
  • Knowledge of business or industry metrics and KPIs
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications
  • Familiarity or ability to quickly learn vendor tools (Relo Metrics, Nielsen Sports Connect, YouGov, GWI, Adobe Analytics, Google Analytics, Meta Business Suite, YouTube Analytics, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and work well with a team
  • Positive attitude, self-starter, and unquestionable personal code of ethics, integrity, diversity, and trust
  • Knowledge of sports and/or basketball (preferred)


Location: El Segundo, downtown Los Angeles (Crypto.com Arena), and other occasional off-site events

Travel: Less than 10% of time

Hours: Hybrid schedule, 2 days (minimum) on-site in El Segundo. Regular office hours (9am- 5:30pm M-F), due to the nature of the NBA schedule must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays to complete deadlines as needed. This department does not typically have game day duties.


The pay for this role is $60-$70K. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications
