A Brief Overview

The Community and Social Impact Specialist leads the department's We Are All Kings Community and Diversity and Inclusion programming, Kings Green sustainability platform and G.O.A.L.S. sponsorship obligations. This role will develop and grow partnerships with local philanthropic organizations and community groups. They will strategically weave these pro-social ambitions within the LA Kings fan growth goals, carried out through Heritage theme night celebrations, community events and more. The incumbent works cross-functionally to integrate the LA Kings impact agenda internally by working closely with the Human Resources and Employee Engagement Departments to plan and schedule a yearly calendar for employee volunteer opportunities and making recommendations to other departments on causes which further organizational growth objectives.

What you will do

  • Manage We are All Kings (WAAK) Community and Diversity & Inclusion programming, G.O.A.L.S. and Kings Green • Develop activations and deep community partnerships with respect to LGBTQIA+, AAPI, Black and Brown communities.
    • Grow the team’s sustainability platform in each of its three key facets: arena operations, community programs and fan engagement.
    • Execute all contractual elements of sponsorship deal tied to the G.O.A.L.S. program in partnership with Blue Shield of California.
    • Fulfill all NHL initiatives including Hockey Fights Cancer, Pride, NHL Green, Salute To Service and all relatable Kings programming.
  • Collaborate with the marketing, creative, production and PR teams to effectively tell the story of community impact programming including Heritage Celebrations, community engagement and volunteerism.
    • Department lead in marketing and communications for both internal and external communications including monthly emails, newsletters, blog posts, social media and web resources.
    • Contribute to overarching cause-marketing campaigns including, Heritage and Theme Nights, that highlight the organization’s commitment to underrepresented and underserved communities.
  • Manage community partners and programming that receive $100K or less from Kings Care Foundation (examples include Sandy Hook Promise, Alliance, WAAK grants).
    • Oversee multiple community events from start to finish ranging in size and scope in furtherance of philanthropic endeavors; including Donation Drives at LA Kings home games
  • Mobilize LA Kings employees to give back to the community through a structured volunteer program and other engagement events.
    • Work closely with Human Resources and Employee Engagement department to plan and communicate to staff.
    • Plan and manage mentoring opportunities and career explorations to champion an inclusive and diverse future for front offices.
  • Work closely LA Kings players, wives and LA Kings alumni engaging them around Kings Community and Hockey Development programs.
  • Supervise Fan Service Associates on Kings Care Foundation and Community Relations duties during game-night shifts at the Kings Care Foundation booth. Train, develop and oversee Community and Hockey Development Coordinator and provide guidance on their daily/weekly duties.

Education Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year) Business or a related area

Experience Qualifications

  • 2-4 years Related experience
  • Prior event management experience required
  • Prior experience running adult or youth hockey programs required
  • Experience working with employees at all levels is preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • In depth knowledge of the sport of hockey required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); ability to learn all required business systems
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a diplomatic and confident approach
  • Strong attention to detail, discretion, superior judgment, professionalism, creativity, flexibility, and resourcefulness
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure and adapt actions accordingly
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and weekends)
  • Well-organized, excellent oral and written communication skills

Pay Scale: $67,000-$75,000

AEG reserves the right to change or modify the employee’s job description whether orally or in writing, at any time during the employment relationship. AEG may require an employee to perform duties outside their normal description.
