JOB SUMMARY

The Community and Hockey Development Assistant is a full-time team member responsible for completing the daily tasks associated with the organization, coordination and implementation of camps, clinics, and events throughout the greater Los Angeles area. The Assistant is also responsible for departmental service tasks associated with the Kings ticket sales platform and select game day duties at Kings home games. This role also assists the Sr. Manager, Hockey Development with branding, growth, and ticket sales initiatives to the local hockey community and with rink partners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist the Hockey Development Department in executing revenue and non-revenue generating initiatives including but not limited to LA Kings Camps, Events, and Clinics as assigned by the Sr. Manager, Community and Hockey Development. Tasks include building out of registration pages, reserving ice, scheduling LA Kings staff (Ice Crew, HD Team, alumni, broadcasters, and mascot), ordering equipment/jerseys, assisting with on and off-ice instruction and logistics, and providing event recaps.
  • Assist Hockey Development Account Executives in executing departmental game day in-game experiences including pre and post-game ice times, youth hockey intermissions, and tunnel teams.
  • Assist Sr. Manager, in assigning post-game sales leads by updating our CRM/Ticketing platform system with new data collected from participant waivers from HD events. Fulfill the e-delivery of tickets included in our rink programming executions including but not limited to Gear Collection submissions and Birthday Party Packages thru our CRM/Ticketing platform system.
  • Inventory departmental supplies used in events and customer service initiatives including player signed items and in-game supplies (ex. wrist bands and jerseys) to ensure the events/initiatives can be properly executed.
  • Responsible for inventory and upkeep of Kings Hockey Development storage units that house departmental hockey gear, event equipment, and give-aways.
  • Assist Sr. Manager, Hockey Development, with service tasks related to our ticket sales platform. Tasks include order fixes, code fixes, answering customer questions, and other standard ticket sales platform tasks.
  • Coordinate and execute rink events designed to acquire new Kings fans including Public Sessions Takeovers and Day with Bailey by booking dates and times with local rink partners, scheduling appropriate Kings staff (ex. mascot, alumni, broadcasters, and Ice Crew), compiling event details in a run-of-show document for staffing/marketing purposes, and attending the event ensure proper execution.
  • Responsible for the coordination of LA Kings Community and Hockey Development Specialists (Kings Alumni and Female Ambassadors). Duties include but are not limited to scheduling specialists for Kings events as requested, tracking appearances, booking flights, hotel, and car rentals, building detailed information sheets for each specialist visit, contacting on-site point person for each scheduled event, submitting and tracking invoices and expenses related to specialist visits, and ensuring specialists are up to date on USA Hockey SafeSport and Coaching certifications.
  • Participate in department and planning meetings by providing updates on assigned tasks and event logistic responsibilities and reporting on participant registration numbers and revenue generated by those events.

The Community and Hockey Development Assistant must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skill and abilities:

  • Ability to consistently re-prioritize based on sales needs.
  • Ability to thrive under a competitive sales environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of the sport of hockey required.
  • In-depth knowledge of the local hockey community in Southern California is preferred

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • BA/BS Degree (4-year)

Experience:

  • 2-4 years related work experience
  • Experience in project planning, preparation and execution required.
  • Coordinating experience in the sports and entertainment industry preferred.

Pay Scale: $17.52 - $22.00
