We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced physiotherapist to join our Medical and Performance Department. Under the management of the Head of Performance Physiotherapy or Head of Rehabilitation Physiotherapy, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering elite-level physiotherapy services, demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, and possess a relentless drive to achieve world-class standards. They will possess extensive experience and credibility in the field with a dedication to excellence.

What will you be doing?

  • Clinical Assessment and Treatment: Conduct thorough assessments and deliver evidence-based treatment plans for first team players, addressing both acute and chronic injuries.
  • Rehabilitation: Develop and oversee individualized rehabilitation programs, ensuring safe and effective return to play protocols.
  • Injury Prevention: Implement and monitor injury prevention strategies, using data-driven approaches to minimize injury risk and enhance player longevity.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, physical performance coaches, and technical staff, to ensure integrated care for players.
  • Matchday Responsibilities: Provide pitch-side and in-game physiotherapy support during training sessions and matches, both home and away.
  • Education and Mentorship: Educate players and coaching staff on injury prevention, treatment protocols, and best practices in physical health.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay updated with the latest research in sports physiotherapy and contribute to the development of innovative practices within the department.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for all players, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection regulations.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will have a Bachelor’s degree in physiotherapy and ideally a master’s degree or higher. You will be registered with the Health and Care Professions council (HCPC) as well as hold a Chartered Society of Physiotherapists membership. You will have an up-to-date pre hospital Care Course recognised by the Faculty of Pre Hospital Care (eg FA ATMMIF) at the level required by the Football Association and Premier League.

You will have expertise in musculoskeletal assessment and treatment with strong rehabilitation skills in an elite sport environment. You will be a recognised as an expert in the field of physiotherapy with credibility throughout the industry. Your previous experience of working in elite high performance sport environment will include a substantial record of delivering regularly to elite athletes. Ideally, you will have a proven football specific experience working in a similar role.

You will have strong analytic and problem-solving skills. You will have a genuine passion for football and providing world class physiotherapy services.

It is essential that you can build good relationships and rapport quickly with players, coaches and other staff throughout the club. Our relationships represent and reflect on the whole department. You will have proven leadership and management experience.

You will be a clear communicator with the ability to explain big concepts in small words. You will regularly be required to present your opinions to the MDT.

You will have a passion about applying research into practice in both the gym and on the pitch and a desire to be an innovator in your field of expertise.

This is a full-time permanent role working across the week including early mornings, evenings and weekends. Your main base will be our AXA Training Centre, however, there will be the requirement to travel nationally and internationally in line with the football fixtures schedule.
