Stadium Operations - F/T Skilled Maintenance - Carpenter

Position Profile: UTIL MAINT – STADIUM SERVICES/CARPENTERS

Department: Stadium Services

Reports to: Project Director MEP & Construction

Rate of Pay: $35.24/hour

Shift: Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm

Job Summary: Skilled Trade Carpenters complete maintenance, repairs, and new fabrications at the University of Kansas Health System Training Complex, Arrowhead Stadium and outside areas of the Truman Sports Complex..

ESSENTIAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Install and repair millwork, hardware, and furniture.
  2. Install signage, wall, and ceiling décor as necessary throughout the stadium and Training Complex.
  3. Install, repair, and maintain seating throughout the stadium and training complex.
  4. Execute concrete repair, forming, and finishing.
  5. Knowledge of commercial doors and door hardware for purposes of repair and maintenance including overhead doors.
  6. Apply paints, stains, surface preparatory material, and undercoating materials to a variety of surfaces, as appropriate, and according to Material Safety Data Sheets ensuring compliance with hazardous materials guidelines.
  7. Able to identify, safely handle, and appropriately dispose of paints, stains, preparatory material, undercoating material, and hazardous material.
  8. Knowledge of paint formulas, sheens, and color selections and able to organize accordingly.
  9. Install, repair, and maintain drywall, wall texturing, and ceiling acoustic texturing.
  10. Snow removal: Ability to work in the freezing temperatures for extended periods of time at all times of day or night, carry 50lb bags of ice melt for distances and upstairs, shovel snow and walkways, scatter ice melt, and be on call at any time.
  11. Keep Maintenance Shop and all shops organized and free of debris.
  12. Must be able to work independently.

COMPETENCIES:

  1. Operates heavy lift equipment including forklifts, scissors, and boom swing stage to heights of 80 feet.
  1. Seat Repair: Identify, repair or replace broken seats using hand tools.
  1. Erects various types of scaffolding, staging, ladders, and planks to reach surfaces of work areas.
  1. Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in carpentry and welding.
  1. Knowledge and skill in hazardous materials handling, application, and disposal.
  2. Keeps equipment and work areas clean and organized.
  3. Must have the ability to work independently and deliver direction to part time staff.
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  5. Professional Appearance: All applicants must maintain a professional appearance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Walk and stand

  5. Push and pull objects
  6. Lift and/or move up to 75 lbs, sometimes over shoulder.
  7. Repetitive bending and lifting of items
  8. Repetitive arm movements, typically under load.
  9. Complete work off ladders

EXPECTATIONS:

  • Reports to work each day and on time, and works extra hours when needed.
  • Employee must comply with proper safety policies and procedures as required (i.e. when using cleaning chemicals, painting chemicals, reporting incidents, etc).
  • Provides excellent level of customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • The employee must be able to determine the neatness, accuracy and thoroughness of the work assigned.
  • If required to travel for business: maintains a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
  • Must undergo and pass a back ground check.
