Academy Athletic Trainer

Position Reports to: Craig Devine, Director of Sports Medicine

Job Purpose Summary: Care and prevention of athletic injuries for the Houston Dynamo Academy Teams. They will primarily attend all team training sessions and treatment sessions. There are 5 Academy Teams and currently there is a morning Athletic Trainer that covers the U17 and U20 teams, and an evening Athletic Trainer that covers the U13, U14, and U15 Teams. The plan is to keep each Athletic Trainer them with these same covered team matches, but this can also be shared between all our Athletic Training Staff based on the entire schedule needs. We would like to have all matches covered, but there are times when away matches will be covered with the home Athletic Training staff based on the entire academy coverage schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

1) Manage Houston Dynamo Academy player injury status.

2) Manage organization of medical supplies and communicate needs to the Director of Sports Medicine.

3) Travel with the Academy Teams for away travel and matches based on the overall schedule. Find adequate event coverage if not traveling to an away match.

4) Monitor a daily cleaning list for the athletic training area and equipment.

5) Maintain proper documentation for all treatments rendered.

6) Promote Houston Dynamo FC culture and core values to players and staff.

7) Assist the other Academy Athletic Trainer in all aspects of care and prevention of injuries for all players with daily communication between the morning and evening training sessions.

8) Work in conjunction and communication with the Academy Performance Staff daily.

9) Organize transportation of players to physician appointments.

10) Any other athletic training staff duties as requested by the Director of Sports Medicine.

11) Maintain a positive attitude to help the players succeed in their goals.

12) Maintain certifications with Texas Licensure, NATABOC, and BLS and update the Director of Sports Medicine on any changes.

13) Maintain personal liability insurance.

14) Understand that this job can be 6 days per week, but the Director of Sports Medicine will work to get at least 1 day off per week in this professional environment. But we will maximize time off at the winter Holidays and summer break between the seasons.

Requirements:

1) Minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of Athletic Training.

2) Experience in caring for soccer teams preferred.

3) Masterโ€™s degree.

4) Must be NATABOC certified and licensed in the State of Texas to practice Athletic Training.

5) Knowledge of Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.

6) English and Spanish language fluency is strongly preferred.
