Workforce Management Freelancer

As the organiser of some of the biggest and most iconic sport events in the world, we lead the way in the sport and event industry.

In the months leading up to an event, Workforce Management collaborate with all FIFA departments to determine headcount requirements. We obtain approval for the workforce list, implement change management, and establish the service levels for staff and freelancers. We also communicate key information ahead of workforce arriving on site.


During tournament operations, we ensure that each team is equipped with the necessary information and resources to fulfill their roles effectively. We also handle logistical aspects, such as uniforms, catering, reward & recognition and office spaces, to guarantee that the workforce is well-supported and can focus on their role once they arrive. Overall, the workforce team acts as the ‘human element’ of the tournament to ensure its success, efficiency, and the delivery of a memorable FIFA tournament.

THE POSITION

These are your key tasks:

  • Act as a key point of contact for Workforce Planning throughout the tournament lifecycle, including special events for FIFA Staff and FIFA Freelancers
  • Create, set up, and implement various elements of the Workforce planning and operation processes, to increase efficiency, allow for flexibility and ensure there is continual process improvement
  • Establish and communicate the Workforce Headcount as the 'source of truth' to ensure consistent and accurate data utilization across the organization
  • Implement, manage, and communicate change management processes to facilitate seamless planning continuity
  • Contribute to the Workforce overall budget, calendar, and the overall total workforce approach
  • Support the generation and communication of policies and procedures to enhance workforce experience and expectations during tournament/event time
  • Play a critical role in managing and delivering Workforce operational requirements during Tournament and Event Time, including, office setups, uniform distribution, key communications, tournament celebration events, workforce ticketing, reward and recognition.
  • Provide input into Workforce technology tools and development to ensure fit for purpose and enhance operational efficiency
  • Provide support to the uniform programme by upholding directives, conducting issuance and channeling ad hoc queries and requests as needed
  • Work collaboratively with other Operational Services functions such as accommodation, travel, logistics and transport to prioritise the Workforce client group
  • Manage and provide guidance to other workforce team members as the team expands

The specific competencies we require for this position are:

  • Master`s degree or similar higher education in Sport or Business Management
    3-5 years of experience in a similar role
  • Initiative and comfort with working autonomously
  • Ability to align project to FIFA’s and the divisions goals
  • Communication and active listening skills
  • Critical and Creative thinker
  • Cultural awareness
  • Flexibility and Growth mindset
  • Attention to detail (especially with routine/repetitive tasks)
  • Proven track record of working in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in the Sports industry is an advantage
  • Fluent in English and any other FIFA language (F / ES / GER) is an asset
  • High level of proficiency in MS Office
