The Production Stage Manager will assist Detroit Pistons Facilities and Construction Department in communication and execution of pre-event and event-day responsibilities, specific to touring shows at outdoor amphitheaters during the summer concert season. This position works directly with the 313 Presents, Live Nation, Detroit Pistons Physical Plant colleagues to ensure production/stage management and safety guidelines are followed by touring shows.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Conduct extensive backstage walk throughs and inspections to assess safety, cleanliness, organization and maintenance.
  • Assist in coordinating, communicating and executing maintenance and repairs.
  • Collaborate with 313 Presents, Physical Plant, stagehand labor provider, Live Nation, and other promoters on all production/stage management advance requirements.
  • Act as house electrician for show power and lighting.
  • Tie in venue delay audio system and adjust, as necessary, during events.
  • Maintain venue production storage rooms and inventory for cleanliness and efficiency
  • Working with stagehand labor provider of riggers, hands, forks, loaders etc. load in through load out.
  • Assist in initiation of preventative and ongoing maintenance program.
  • Attention to minute, fine quality details.
  • Recognize LI/LO, rigging, safety, transport, staging, lighting, AV issues and determine solutions.
  • Leads with integrity, setting an example for professional behavior.

What we’re looking for:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Five (5) plus years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be reliable, detailed and organized with an ability to work as a team.
  • Possess the highest integrity and ethical standards.
  • General knowledge of building structure and maintenance.
  • Computer literate including Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems used in live entertainment.
  • Knowledge of sound and lighting systems used in live entertainment.
  • Knowledge of entertainment rigging.
  • Ability to identify and provide correct terminology of facility needs.
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
  • Experience working in concert or theater venues.
  • Must possess an active driver’s license.
  • Must adhere to all safety protocols.

Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays

  • Exposure to high noise level
  • Frequent visual/auditory attention
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; and extreme heat.
  • Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, and climb stairs for long periods of time.
