PRIMARY PURPOSE: Support our mission by managing and contributing to comprehensive security programs and initiatives at Progressive Field. Develop and implement appropriate security measures to promote a forward-thinking approach while overseeing discreet security functions to uphold the safety of our teammates and fans within our ballpark.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
People & Vendor Management
- Manage day-to-day of assigned seasonal gameday security team, comprising of approximately 30+ teammates. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, recruitment, hiring, scheduling, payroll management, and offering counseling, when necessary, in collaboration with Human Resources
- Serve as the Security Manager on Duty on event days in accordance with peer rotation schedule
- Supervise the security focus of the Ballpark Services Intern Rotational Program, including developmental goal setting, training, scheduling, and providing feedback
- Collaborate closely with fellow Security Services managers to ensure cohesive planning and execution of all events and activities supporting the Cleveland Guardians
- Coordinate and manage vendors supporting events, such as EDC Teams, Ambulance Crews, and Event Medicine Teams, ensuring proper and appropriate services are in place and available
Technology
- Serve as primary overseer and manager of the Incident Management System, offering guidance and support to peers in utilizing the current platform
- Provide training, validate data, develop systems, and analyze output of Incident Management System as needed
- Conduct a needs assessment and develop a management plan for internal security teams and partners within Ballpark Services for Incident Management System
- Serve as the Security Lead for various MLB technology initiatives, ensuring proper implementation and consistency, including the Guest Pass System, Credential Scanning, and other relevant technologies
- Impact innovation and enhancement of security measures through research, development, testing and evaluation of programs
- Contribute insights into the utilization and management of security systems including video surveillance, access control, and future systems by reviewing trend analysis of successes and failures
Incident Management & Documentation
- Provide guidelines for documenting and tracking of all incidents to ensure comprehensive metadata is captured and communicated to key stakeholders ensuring all surveillance needs, and expectations are considered
- Develop and maintain comprehensive written policy and process documentation to ensure the consistent application of security and safety measures are applied within the designated area of responsibility. This includes Post Orders, Standard Operating Procedures, Field Access Plans, Post Season documents, and updates related to Safety Act compliance and modernization.
- Create, implement, and execute definitive and secure plans regarding staff interaction with guests needing a higher standard of engagement such as Media, Specialty Fans, and Players and Player Family.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in criminal justice, Security Studies, Management or other relevant degree
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in security, operations management, or program management
- At least 3 years of direct people management experience
JOB SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Demonstrated previous experience in documenting process, policy, or planning
- Project management experience preferred
- Ability to execute an analytics process, from requirements to dissemination
- Knowledge and/or experience with the 24/7 Software Application preferred
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of tools
