We are looking for a passionate Financial Accountant to join our growing Finance team.

The Financial Accountant is responsible for the accurate recording and reporting of transactions in assigned areas, along with other accounting tasks. This includes creating and posting journals, preparing and peer-reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, preparing technical accounting papers and co-ordinating the internal and external audits. The Financial Accountant will also work with other members of the Finance team to ensure that transactions are compliant with the FIA Financial Regulations, and work with Finance Business Partners and FP&A to analyse actual spend.

You will be the subject matter expert for assigned areas of the balance sheet and P&L, providing accurate data to other team members and ensuring accounting records are maintained in line with regulatory frameworks.

This role will offer excellent development of key technical skills for an individual seeking to progress their career, with a wide breadth of tasks, learning opportunities and exposure to Financial Controller, Head of Finance and Head of Finance Business Partnering.

As a Financial Accountant, you will:

  • Manage the month end close process, ensuring journals are completed in a timely manner and reconciliations are maintained to a high standard

  • Manage and reconcile balance sheet accounts, identifying and delivering improvements to the preparation and delivering actions

  • Review contract documentation to prepare technical accounting papers

  • Work with the other Financial Accountants, take ownership for and manage the annual statutory audit process, ensuring that audit information is delivered on time and procedures are managed efficiently

  • Ensure all accounting records are appropriately kept and in line with required legislation (FRS 102, FIA Financial Regulations, HMRC, Companies Act)

  • Collaborate with System Architect specialists to design and develop Microsoft Dynamics (ERP) as appropriate, to support accurate business process and accounting particularly inventory recording

  • Support the Financial Controller with treasury matters, including working capital and FX management

  • Support the Head of Tax with Corporation Tax, RDEC and WHT filings on an ad-hoc basis

  • Partner with other financial functions to identify and deliver improvements to business processes

As a Financial Accountant, you’ll:

  • Be ACA/ACCA/CIMA, 0-2 years PQE Qualified

  • Have at least 3 years of relevant work experience

  • Have a degree or equivalent with a strong academic and/or professional development record

  • Have experience working with multiple stakeholders in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

  • Be able to take full ownership for identifying and solving financial issues

Experience with Microsoft D365 and PowerBI is also desired, but not essential.
