Title: Van Driver

Reports To: Coordinator, Minor League Operations

Status: Part-Time

Summary:

The Tampa Bay Rays are seeking individuals who will transport minor league players and staff in a safe, secure, and professional manner to and from club-provided housing and Twin Lakes Park for games, practices, and development programs from April through October. Driver(s) will be scheduled in shifts and will use team-provided vehicles.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive the team vans to safely transport players and staff to games, practices, and development programs at assigned times.
  • Transport players and staff to off-site programming in Port Charlotte and occasionally the Tampa Bay area including community activities and appointments scheduled by Player Development administrators.
  • Drive players and staff to and from the airport for travel related to their employment, including reporting for programs, breaking from camp, end-of-season travel, player transfers and releases. Most trips would be to Tampa International or Sarasota, although players are occasionally routed through Southwest Florida International (Fort Myers), Orlando and Miami depending on flight availability.
  • Maintain strict standards of confidentiality at all times and operate with integrity in a player-centered environment.
  • Drive players to and from appointments upon request from the Rays medical staff.
  • Assist Rays Player Development staff in maintaining vehicle service schedule to ensure safe and reliable operation, including refueling vehicles and taking them for oil changes and tire maintenance as assigned by Rays personnel, and keeping team vehicles clean.
  • Assist Rays Player Development staff with transporting documents and supplies, including occasional trips between Tropicana Field and Twin Lakes Park.
  • Additional responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications:

  • Must possess a valid driver license and a clean driving record – no more than one moving violation or β€œat fault” accident within the past three years.
  • Must prioritize safe driving, adhering to all traffic laws and driving rules in Florida, and be comfortable operating a van with as many as 15 passengers.
  • Must have a positive attitude and strong communication skills.
  • Fluency in Spanish is preferred.
  • Ability and desire to represent the Rays brand with integrity.
  • Must be proficient using a smartphone for scheduling shifts, receiving instructions, and navigating GPS applications.
  • Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays in line with the baseball schedule is required.
  • Must be available a minimum of four days a week, and will be scheduled less than 40 hours per week.
