The position is based in St. Louis, MO at the Washington University Orthopedics Performance Center. The primary role includes being the Sports Performance Dietician with St. Louis City`s first team and working within the Sports Performance department while being collaborative with the Sports Medicine and Coaching Staff members.
The Sports Performance Dietician’s main function is overseeing the nutritional needs of all athletes by conducting individual assessments, team nutrition education, and counseling to improve nutritional and dietary habits. This person serves as an integral part of the club and the club’s vision and will be able to effectively promote nutritional strategies alongside the performance, medical, and coaching staff.
The Sports Performance Dietitian reports directly to the Director of High Performance, Sporting Director & Head Coach for St. Louis City SC. They will also work closely with the following STL City staff members at the MLS, NextPro and MLS Next Academy: athletic trainers, performance coaches, technical staff, team physical therapist, team psychologist, team massage therapist, team doctors and any outsourced medical professionals that work with the organization.
Position Summary:
Duties include developing nutritional and hydration strategies, for St. Louis City Senior Team, with a secondary emphasis on the NextPro and MLS Next Academy Teams. Establishing dietary expectations and defining future goals based on the needs and demands of both individual athletes and the team. Assisting Director of High Performance or medical staff with any needs or tasks assigned.
