SUMMARY OF THE ROLE

The Head Performance Coach will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strength and conditioning program to promote the health and wellness of St. Louis CITY SC First Team athletes. This role will be a key contributor in improving athlete performance, reducing potential injury, and teaching lifelong fitness and movement skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Design and implement strength training, periodization and conditioning programs in‐season, off‐season, and pre‐season in a manner that reflects research‐driven practices and our Club's commitment to the welfare of our athletes.

Expertise in running soccer-based warm-ups and end stage rehabilitation programs.

Work in collaboration with the sports medicine staff during rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols.

Support and facilitate a collaborative relationship among St. Louis CITY SC coaching staff.

Conduct an annual needs‐analysis for the team in conjunction with the Director of High Performance, Director of Sports Medicine, Head Coach, and Head of Sports Science.

Assist the Goalkeeper and Specialist coaches, as needed.

Maintains all applicable continuing education and certifications as required.

Contributes to the overall success of St. Louis CITY SC by performing all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

5+ years' experience in the field of strength and condition, preferably in the instruction of athletes or athletic teams.

BS in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field, required. Master's Degree in similar fields, preferred.

Must hold or be working towards NSCA - Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Certified Performance and Sports Scientist (CPSS)

Current first-aid, CPR, AED, certifications.

Strong working knowledge and teaching skills in analysis and techniques of strength training.

Ability to demonstrate the appropriate skills and techniques to be properly used by athletes, and visually monitor athletes during the use of those techniques, in the weight-room and on the field.

Must possess/ be working towards soccer coaching licenses.

Dynamic interpersonal communication skills that enhance the ability to positively interact with athletes/coaches/staff

Effective organizational and time management skills

Ability to work in varying degrees of noise, temperature, and environments (both indoors and outdoors), role requires the coach to frequently lift/ move or demonstrate with heavy objects (+50lbs).
