REPORTS TO: Director of Match Presentation and Content

STATUS: Seasonal, Hourly

LOCATION: San Jose, CA

PAY: $30-35/per hour

ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Game Production Technician will be responsible for the game-day video production show at PayPal Park which includes San Jose Earthquakes matches as well as various third-party events. There are multiple positions that the Game Production Technician is responsible for during events at PayPal Park. They include Replay Operator, LED operator, Camera Operator, TD/Director, Video Shader, Social/Stats Operator and Utility. The Game Production Technician should have a good technical understanding of television/sports broadcasting. This role will start in February 2025.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience working in live sports productions and/or television broadcast productions.
  • Assist with on-field promotions and in-game entertainment as needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to make quick decisions.
  • Knowledge or general understanding of MLS teams, rules, and game flow.
  • Availability and willingness to work most gamedays which include nights, weekends, some holidays, and be on-call for any third-party events.
  • Must present a professional attitude and should be extremely enthusiastic.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Passion for live sports productions and entertainment.
  • Actively participate in the creative development process.
  • Positive customer service and team attitude.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

A willingness to work various control room positions, sometimes changing day of the matches depending on staff availability is required. Please note you do not need to be proficient in ALL roles to apply, but we are looking for individuals who are able to support multiple functions of the production. Responsibilities vary from position to position. A general knowledge and understanding of each are desired.

  • LED Operator: assist with the load in of content of videoboard and fascia graphics.
  • Video Playback Operator: play out or video content, static partner graphics, and other various elements as well as assist in the load in of content.
  • Utility/Camera Operator: managing proper setup and breakdown of equipment including tripod, camera, power supplies and cabling. Strong camera operating skills with the ability to execute shots quickly and be comfortable shooting live sports.
  • Video Shader: must feel comfortable utilizing specific camera functions such as Iris, White Balance, Gain Adjustment, etc.
  • Replay Operator: operate replay decks and recall replays as directed by Event Producer/Director as well as maintain operation of 3-Play replay systems, including pre-game setup and testing and post-game wrap-up.
  • TD/Director: demonstrates knowledge and understanding of cleanly switching multi-camera productions as well as works with the production team on the proper technical video switcher setups for each show.
