POSITION SUMMARY:

The Phillies is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented professional to oversee and coordinate various accounting and financial operations functions at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, Florida. This position will be responsible for a wide variety of finance and accounting duties including reconciliations, creating and posting entries to the general ledger, quarterly account analysis, creating invoices, processing invoices, cash management, and completing reports. Candidates must be willing to work event-based hours including nights, weekends, and holidays as the ballpark’s schedule requires.

This position will be located on-site at BayCare Ballpark in Clearwater, FL.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for performing and overseeing a variety of general accounting duties including preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries into the general ledger, various internal and external reporting and preparation of support for annual audits.
  • Manage a direct report, provide guidance, support, and ongoing performance evaluations to ensure their professional development and success in their role.
  • Maintain accounting records for all work completed in an orderly functional manner.
  • Calculate and remit monthly state sales tax filings.
  • Complete periodic financial reports for Major League Baseball and other entities as needed.
  • Perform general ledger account analysis, monthly bank reconciliations and quarterly account reconciliations.
  • Assist the team in Philadelphia with quarterly account analytics.
  • Prepare and maintain schedules through the coordination of various supporting documents on a regular basis. Examples of schedules include sponsorship, parking, concessions, merchandise, special events, etc.
  • Oversee game day cash responsibilities before, during and after games as well as complete game/event revenue reports.
  • Complete invoicing to clients for various business activities including sponsorship and events into the Accounting system.
  • Process invoices from vendors for payment including coding and entering bills into the Accounting system.
  • Understand the inner workings and policies of the company.
  • Perform special projects, when necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.


SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required; CPA preferred.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience, including supervisory and a combination of public and private accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in financial software and MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong financial acumen and expertise in financial planning and analysis.
  • Knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to utilize strong analytical, decision-making, and strategic planning skills.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours (including nights, weekends, and holidays)
  • Ability to thrive and work collaboratively in a team environment while often working independently.
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
