TITLE: Scouting Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Soccer Operations

REPORTS TO: Chief Scout

FLSA: Salary, Exempt

WHAT SETS YOU APART

You are a well-organized and motivated professional, with extensive knowledge of soccer, identification and assessment of players and player recruitment for Orlando City and Orlando City B. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Scout.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the player scouting and recruitment strategy within the club, as well as identifying potential recruits.
  • Video Scouting: Assessment of players using Wyscout and other platforms as assigned.
  • Live Scouting: Availability to travel upon short notice within the US and abroad to games and/or tournaments for evaluation of targets.
  • Media Monitoring: Stay up to date with the latest news related to the transfer market and soccer landscape in designated markets, especially related to targeted players.
  • Research on background information: Develop and use different sources to collect a wide amount of information related to target players' work ethic, character, and various off the field aspects.
  • Shortlist management: Organize and keep a database of players up to date based on the club’s needs and capabilities in the market.
  • Operational tasks: Assist in various recruiting efforts, such as logging in information into the database on the organization of other documents, presentations, and other tasks as determined.
  • Support Chief Scout in managing a network of scouts.
  • Assist with scouting databases, software, and reports.
  • Work with the analytics departments in crossover projects related to scouting.
  • Other scouting and recruitment-related duties as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Relevant experience in professional soccer.
  • Knowledge of MLS and NCAA landscape.
  • Deep understanding of soccer concepts to create match and player reports.
  • Experience with database management platforms like ISF Scout7 is a plus.
  • Experience with analytics platforms like Statsbomb is a plus.
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Spanish or Portuguese full professional proficiency is a plus.
  • Possess extensive knowledge of soccer, player recruitment and able to demonstrate a proven track record.
  • Candidates must have strong leadership, interpersonal and supervisory skills.
  • Possess excellent written/verbal communication skills, be detail-oriented and highly organized with the ability to simultaneously handle multiple tasks and adapt to change.
  • Must be driven and enthusiastic and able to work well within a team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to design reports and presentations (PowerPoint, Canvas, etc.).
  • Ability to walk and stand for short periods of time.
  • Able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays and perform direct scouting with the ability to travel.
