Summary:
The Minor League Strength & Conditioning Coach Associate is responsible for assisting in the physical development and preparation of our NY Mets complex and rehab players. This position is based in our Florida, Port St Lucie Complex and will work in coordination with Athletic Trainers and Sports Scientists to deliver an industry leading performance and rehab system. The role will be provided mentorship by the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator and complex S&C coaches.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of the Performance Coaching coordinator, develop and coach individual player programming based on objective assessments and positional requirements.
Assist in the development and coaching of energy system development programs that are position and player specific.
Assist in the programming and coaching of: Movement Preparation, Linear and Multidirectional Movement Skill and Speed, Plyometrics, Strength and Power Development, Correctives, and Recovery and Regeneration Protocols.
Collaborate with the Minor League Performance Coaching Coordinator and Sport Science Intern to implement routine subjective and objective player readiness and workload monitoring protocols.
Assist the Sport Science Staff with athlete data collection.
Maintain and record subjective and objective information specific to player and team performance in the NY Mets database.
Maintain knowledge of latest trends and leading practices in the performance field.
Demonstrate a growth mindset and the drive to develop themselves in their own specific professional domain.
Being curious about the domains around them, for the betterment of the wider performance department.
Must be a positive and proactive worker, who can effectively collaborate with other members of the performance department and the baseball skills coaches.
Provide weekly reports throughout the year and mid/end of year performance testing reports to the Performance Coaching Coordinator.
Use the organizations Athlete Management System to maintain player records and provide player information transfers as players move from the minor league complex to the affiliate teams. Maintain all professional credentials and licensure.
Seeking to build open and collaborative relationships with staff and players, whilst putting the development of the team and players at the center, at all times.
Essential Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Exercise Science, Physiology, or related degree.
NSCA CSCS and CPR/First Aid certification.
1+ years’ full-time experience in a similar role.
Experience working with teams/athletes in high-level sport (Professional sports, Division I athletics).
Experience working within a long-term athlete development programming.
Competent with programming and coaching linear and multidirectional movement skills.
Experience with developing aerobic and anaerobic energy system development programs.
Experience with periodic player performance assessments.
Evidence of continued professional development and education (Workshops, accreditations, etc.)
Excellent communication skills with coaches, athletes, and staff.
A positive, friendly personality with a passion for assisting others in achieving their goals.
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally.
Must be able to work unconventional hours.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience working in baseball (Collegiate, MiLB, MLB).
Familiarity with athlete management systems, force plate systems, athlete positioning systems, velocity-based training equipment, and load cell and strain gauge-based testing devices.
