Position Summary:

The Birmingham Squadron are seeking positive and outgoing part-time, seasonal game night staff members for the 2024-2025 G League basketball season who will use their personality and skills to enhance the Squadron game day experience as part of the Hype Team. This position is based in Birmingham, AL at Legacy Arena.

Under general direction and supervision, this position is responsible for handling, preparing and executing all elements of the Birmingham Squadron game experience. As part of the Hype Team, you will become an integral member of the team which supports the Game Experience and Events department within the organization. You will play an active role in all in-game entertainment, assisting fans in and out of areas, and understanding all other duties and tasks assigned for the game.

This position is part time, but will require late nights, weekends and open availability for a majority of the Birmingham Squadron home games and events. All game night staff members must be available 3.5 hours before the start of each home game and through one hour after the game concludes.

What you will be doing:

Prepares administrative support and coordinates game contests that will include selecting contestants
Assist in the coordination of in-game elements with a focus on fan interactivity during pre-game, stoppages, and intermissions
Act as a positive representative for the organization in and out of the arena during all games and various external events
Escorts and coordinates with performers for game entertainment (e.g. National Anthem Performers, DJ’s, Halftime Acts, etc.)
Work closely with Corporate Sponsorship and group sales department
Supports, and takes cues from the arena host
Assists camera shots by working with the production crew and designated Legacy Arena employees
Reports to Game Experience Coordinator

What you’ll bring:

Must be hardworking, upbeat, and able to adapt quickly in an ever-changing environment
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to multi-task and address problems in a high-stress, fast-paced live event/production environment
Ability to work the majority of scheduled Squadron home games, additional home playoff games, select rehearsals and occasional special events
Hard-working and knowledgeable about the sports, live entertainment/production, and special event industry
Takes directions well and is a dedicated team player
Ability to work well with others including Show Caller, other stage managers, Game Experience staff, camera operators, hosts, VIPs and more
Must be able to adapt to a fast paced environment where attention to detail is critical;
Must be able to multi-task and prioritize complex tasks;
Must be punctual and reliable;
Ability to be on your feet for the duration of your shift
Ability to lift and/or move 50 lbs. at a time

Environment

The incumbent will spend all of their time at the Legacy Arena for Birmingham Squadron games and on occasion, external Squadron events. They will be encouraged to attend Squadron games at Legacy Arena, as well as other related events that may take place on weekends and/or holidays.
