SUMMARY
Experiential learning opportunity for an entry-level sports marketing professional who is primarily focused on the corporate and business aspects of the professional sports industry. This role will expose the candidate to a variety of functions and tasks related to partnership marketing at the National Hockey League. The candidate will gain an appreciation for how corporate marketing fits into the NHL's business model and will understand League rights and generalities around partner contracts and activation needs. In summary, the candidate will directly participate in, and gain an appreciation for, the daily tasks, duties and responsibilities required in the management of League corporate partners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide required support to the partnership marketing team with respect to sponsor activation fulfillment, market research execution, and NHL-controlled media reporting/valuation
- Support the creation of reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, as well as partner activation tracking summaries
- Assist in the planning/execution/reporting of NHL Jewel Events such as the 4 Nations Face-Off and Stanley Cup Playoffs
- Support the planning and execution of corporate partner Stanley Cup Playoff programming including contesting, content production and planning and fulfillment of Grand Prize winners
- Monitor and report bi-weekly on industry trends for NHL partner programs and other best-in-class campaigns
- Join partner status calls, as required
- Perform other administrative or service functions, as required
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong working knowledge of sports marketing and the sport of hockey
- Experience in event planning including (but not limited to) budget tracking, catering, and on-site execution is considered an asset
- Experience with Social Media, Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, etc. and some graphics skills is considered an asset
- High level of interest / familiarity in emerging media including broadcast and social media platforms
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all tasks taking a proactive approach towards the elimination of errors before they occur
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision, take the initiative on projects and operate with a high level of confidence and ownership in all tasks
- Superior interpersonal and relationship management skills, as well as writing and communication skills
- Superior English language skills required (written and verbal) with bilingualism in French (written and verbal) considered an asset
- Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to be flexible and adapt quickly to changing demands
- Possesses and displays a professional attitude, appearance and demeanor at all times
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Successful completion of post-secondary education in Marketing, Commerce, or related field
- 1+ year marketing experience within brand/sports/entertainment marketing, event management, or related field
