Undergraduate - Business and Corporate Functions Intern

Program Experience

The 2025 NBA Summer Internship is a 10-week program that runs from June 9 – August 15, 2025. The program gives participants the opportunity to learn about basketball, develop critical career skills and contribute to meaningful projects across a range of departments in the NBA and its affiliate leagues (WNBA, G League, NBA 2K). In addition to on-the-job experience, interns are invited to participate in a broad array of professional development programs, community and social experiences.

The program prioritizes rising seniors, with limited exceptions for graduate students, based on business need.

Interns should reflect excellent academic standing and have strong written and verbal communication skills. Additionally, we look for candidates who possess leadership skills as demonstrated through relevant extracurricular or community activities.

Role Overview

Selected interns will support areas critical to the overall functioning of the organization, including Finance, Human Resources, Social Responsibility, Facilities and Administration, Diversity & Inclusion, and Security. Responsibilities may include project management, market research, analysis, forecasting and planning business outcomes, event support, and communications. Interns in these functions support the day-to-day operations of the league, including internal and external events and projects.

Past interns have worked across a range of departments including Finance, the fiscal driver of the NBA providing decision support and financial rigor around business plans, business performance, market expansion, product launches and new initiatives; Human Resources, which drives the NBA’s global workforce strategy, including talent acquisition, talent management, employee development, employee relations, compensation, and benefits; or Social Responsibility & Player Programs (SRPP), which leads the League’s global social responsibility and youth basketball participation initiatives, as well as player development and strategic marketing efforts that help players be more successful off the court.

Major Responsibilities

May include, but not limited to:

  • Supporting domestic and international strategy for their respective departments.

  • Providing supportive, data-based analysis related to department objectives and key metrics, influencing business outcomes.

  • Supporting event management efforts at marquee events, such as HR Summit, NBA Draft, Summer League, WNBA All-Star, team visits, etc.

  • Co-managing staff or community-facing initiatives across NBA and WNBA teams.

  • Identifying content and social platform enhancements to drive innovative team-facing campaigns in marketing and partnerships.

  • Developing department resources such as company toolkits.

  • Conducting field research alongside industry competitors.

  • Creating company-wide communications for important business updates across company intranet and social media platforms.

  • Supporting with employee-facing training and other needs for their respective departments.

  • Assisting with special projects as needed.

Required Education & Professional Experience

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program and entering Senior year in the academic year following the internship

  • These roles are open to all but typically best suited for individuals in the following majors: Accounting, Business Administration, Communications, Digital Media, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Pre-Law, Psychology, Sociology, Strategy, or related fields

Preferred Skills & Kowledge Attributes

  • Experience in department-related fields (e.g., Facilities, HR systems, Player Development/Marketing)

  • Solid project management and event planning experience

  • Must be well organized, able to multi-task, and be detail-oriented

  • Experience leading people & groups, with an emphasis on coaching others

  • Experience with narrative-building, storytelling, and social media engagement

  • Research and analytical skills 

  • Highly collaborative

Salary Range: $23 per hour
