Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Oversee all advance scouting models.
- Batter/pitcher matchups.
- Pre-Series reports on tendencies of the opposing team.
- Defensive positioning.
- Evaluate infield positioning code two years from the shift ban.
- Produce infield and outfield cards for all batter pitcher matchups.
- Run game offensively and defensively.
- Travel with the Major League team on some of the road trips and be available for all home games.
- Assist and answer questions during pregame workouts.
- Be available in game to help make strategy adjustments.
- Lead post-game review and key decisions during each game.
- Point person between the front office and the Major League coaching staff.
- Answer questions that arise from the Major League staff.
- Inform the Major League staff of changes and improvements to our core models from the R&D department.
- Oversee pregame and post-game reports for the players and staff.
- Create and improve automated tools and visualizations to aid in the distribution of information to players, coaches, and other field staff.
- Build a post-game review process for evaluating how effective our game plan was and how well we stuck to the plan.
- Quantitatively assess long-term team goals.
- Monitor key performance metrics frequently and report results to the staff.
- Suggest adjustments in areas we are falling short in attaining those metrics.
Requirement Experience and Education:
- Data analyst experience: ability to interpret and analyze statistics.
- Experience as a contributor with statistical programs such as R, Python, Matlab, Julia, or Stan.
- Experience as a contributor with SQL and relational databases.
- Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and presentation software.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to travel with the MLB team on road trips and Spring Training.
- Exceptional skills communicating complex statistical concepts with stakeholders from a wide range of technical and non-technical backgrounds.
