Camp Lakers, presented by UCLA Health, is back for another year. For over 20 summers, Camp Lakers has been committed to providing young players with the ultimate Lakers experience. Camp Lakers features advanced and experienced basketball instructors who teach with support and resources from the Positive Coaching Alliance and are overseen by members of the Lakers staff. Camp Lakers emphasizes the fundamentals of offensive and defensive basketball taught “the Lakers Way”. A combination of drill stations, games, league play, playoffs and awarded skill contests highlight an organized and structured week of fun for campers. Campers are grouped by age.

Coaches will lead one team and work directly with Lakers staff to oversee campers. Coaches will mentor youth, teach basketball skills, and communicate with parents each day.

Location: Camp Lakers will take place at The Map Sports Facility; 12552 Western Ave, Garden Grove, CA 92841.

Dates:

Session 1: Monday, July 8 – Friday, July 12 - MAP Sports Facility
Session 2: Monday, July 15 - Friday, July 19 - MAP Sports Facility

Monday: 7:15am – 4:30pm
Tuesday – Thursday: 8am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8am -3:30pm
Coaches will also need to attend (2) mandatory training sessions (dates TBD)

Qualifications: Our camp coaches must have the desire to work with children and help them master the fundamentals of basketball. Our coaches should also be passionate about the Lakers. Our goal is to educate campers on and off the court while providing them the ultimate Lakers experience. People skills are a must. Coaches should have enthusiasm, a sense of humor, patience and self-control. As 17-time NBA champions we understand that our campers and their parents are expecting championship-caliber coaches and that is what we expect to deliver.

Minimum Experience Required:

Minimum of one (1) year of demonstrated coaching and/or basketball experience.

Former NBA/NBA-G-League Player, Former College Basketball Player, College Coach, AAU/ Travel Ball Experience, Personal Trainer Experience or High School Basketball Experience preferred.

The pay range for this role is $17.28/hour. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience and certifications.
