POSITION SUMMARY

The Physical Therapist is responsible for the recuperation and recovery of the player. This role will coordinate rehabilitation, evaluation, plan of care, progress notes, and discharge notes on all players. These notes will be kept on file in the MLS electronic medical record (EMR).

This role will report directly to the Head Athletic Trainer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs physical therapy services for the Club’s players under the guidance of the Head Athletic Trainer as ordered by the Club’s Chief Medical Officer.
  • Provide up to date physical therapy evaluation, plan of care, progress notes, and discharge notes.
  • Maintenance of above notes in MLS electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Maintain a complete and up to date physical therapy record in the EMR.
  • Maintain physical therapy supplies and clinical equipment.
  • Comply with all MLS medical policies and protocols.
  • Comply with OSHA standards with regard to blood borne pathogens.
  • Participate as part of the Club’s Medical Staff as required by the Club Chief Medical Officer.
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar role required, at an elite/professional sports team, or MLS preferred.
  • CPR certification for health care provider is required.
  • BOC Certified Athletic Trainer preferred.
  • APTA, OCS, SCS certification preferred.
  • Passed National Physical Therapy exam.
  • Possess personal professional liability insurance.
  • Must possess current active license in the State(s)/Province(s) where Club has home matches or trainings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to quickly build trust and relationships with players and staff.
  • Team player, who wants to put team and player success over individual success.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Flexible work schedule with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as the MLS calendar requires.
  • Ability to travel with the first team when required.


SALARY RANGE

At LAFC, we carefully consider a wide range of factors to determine a fair and equitable compensation package. The final offer amount will consider a wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to skill sets; relevant experience and training. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure guidelines, the overall range for this role is $125,000 - $150,000 per year.
