JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for providing legal assistance and administration to the General Counsel and Legal Department.
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist Shareholder Services Manager and work with transfer agent on corporate governance and communications related to Shareholders and annual meeting of Shareholders.
- Assist General Counsel in updating corporate governance documents as directed by the General Counsel and Director Affairs Committee of the Board of Directors.
- Prepare executive officer, football coach/staff, scouting, football technology and other administrative contracts and maintain confidential files/spreadsheets.
- Designated as a Club employee to electronically submit pdf contracts to League and receive approved contracts from League.
- Prepare initial immigration paperwork for out-of-country players and work directly with immigration attorney/football operations/player in the hiring process.
- Conduct legal research and draft legal documents.
- Support the negotiation and finalization of contracts, including drafting and reviewing basic legal documents such as waivers, releases, and contest and promotion rules with oversight from club attorneys.
- Manage and organize current and legacy legal files, including monitoring deadlines and renewals.
- Risk management – OSHA annual reporting; file player/employee worker’s compensation claims and maintain files; report any accident/incident occurring on Packers’ property; file annual reports with the Wisconsin Department of Financial Institutions; maintain and update leased vehicle spreadsheet/registrations/tags and update policy as needed; coordinate any vehicle repairs needed and file appropriate claims.
- Manage corporate insurance renewals, letters of credit renewals/requests and report any property/auto/accident claims to appropriate agency.
- Work with club attorneys to manage litigation, including responding to and coordinating insurance coverage, and discovery collection.
- Real Estate – Assist Associate Counsel with real estate files, closings and other necessary documents.
- Manage Wisconsin worker’s compensation litigation files; including, cases involving the League, gathering information, responding to requests and general correspondence/billing.
- Manage all California Cumulative Trauma Claims/Non-Injury Grievances and provide records to counsel assigned by carrier with documentation necessary to defend our claim(s).
- Manage filing of all employee/coach/scout work comp claims and handle the claim until cleared to return to work and claim is closed.
- Manage the day-to-day work comp bills to submit for processing; also submit any direct pay bills, from local providers, to Finance for payment.
- Support and back-up assistant to President and Chief Operating Officer.
- Notary Public for the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of 7 years Paralegal / Legal Assistant training required
- Risk Management experience preferred
- Knowledge of legal terminology and contract management
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Proficient in grammar, spelling and proofreading
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Proficient knowledge of computer applications and common office equipment
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work in a professional manner, at all times, in an office environment
- Able to sit/stand for extended periods of time
- Able to independently work on projects self-created or assigned to
- Willingness to work longer hours, as needed, during football contract months
- Willingness to be available to work remotely, if necessary
