Lead YDP and Assistant PDP Physiotherapist

The positions purpose is to deliver physiotherapy services to all academy squads within an interdisciplinary approach, with a specific focus on supporting the transition of YDP players into the PDP programme / First Team. Support the development and delivery of injury prevention and rehabilitation programmes that will maximise player performance, enhance recovery and reduce injury risk. Lead the management of part time therapy personal within the FP and YDP, ensuring optimal staffing for both training and matches within the academy.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

To lead on the assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of all injuries sustained in the U15’s and U16’s, with specific focus on players transitioning from YDP to PDP age groups. Ensuring adequate input and consideration from disciplines within the wider academy technical and performance teams throughout the return to play process.

Support and lead on appropriate injuries within the PDP where case load and clinical development opportunities permit.

Liaise and co-ordinate appropriate onward referral to external practitioners with support from the academy medical team where required, ensuring appropriate communication to individual players support system.

To lead on match day medical provisions for U17 and U16 age groups, with opportunities to support or lead provisions within the wider PDP where required.

To carry out regular comprehensive screening of academy players, using findings to inform injury prevention strategies within the wider support team, leading the delivery of such sessions where necessary.

Ensure timely appropriate communication of player medical management with relevant academy staff and stake holders across the YDP and PDP phases.

Work collaboratively within the academy MDT to support the development and transition of academy footballers into the professional full time phases.

Lead part time staff medical provisions ensuring appropriate cover across the U9’s to U16’s domestic and international programmes in line with Category 1 requirements.

Keep accurate up to date records on the clubs medical database in line with HCPC and EPPP standards.

Collate, analyse and provide injury data, distributing information to key academy stakeholders in a periodic manner.

Contribute to departmental CPD and research projects whilst maintaining personal CPD pertinent to individual personal development plans.
