Manager, Strategy, FIFA World Cup 2026

Reporting organisationally to the Head of Strategy and Governance, the Strategy Manager will be a key member of the FIFA26 Planning and Integration team team, and work in close collaboration with the FIFA Zurich Project Office and other key individuals responsible for delivering the development and execution of an efficient and effective framework necessary for the successful planning and execution of the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Supporting the planning and execution of the strategic operational delivery of these tournaments, the Strategy Manager will work and collaborate with all Functional Areas and with partners and stakeholders’ organisations


THE POSITION

The main responsibilities and oversights of the Strategy Manager for the FIFA World Cup 26™ include:

  • Help manage communication forums utilized by FIFA26 to liaise with internal and external stakeholders, facilitating information sharing, decision-making, and event coordination.
  • Work closely with Functional Areas and external partners to support execution of deliverables and adherence to timelines.
  • Develop, communicate and implement actionable, succinct plans.
  • Assist in strategic planning for longer term key initiatives and governance forums.
  • Identify trends and support senior management in prioritizing issues that require escalation.
  • Coordinate with all involved parties to gather the necessary information that enables Management to make informed decisions.
  • Support special projects and cross functional teams that are set up for the resolution of issues.
  • Support Department in delivery of a Main Operations Centre (MOC). This includes MOC’s physical requirements, technology requirements, staffing, service levels, staffing, governance, daily rhythm, escalation thresholds for issues etc.
  • Manage pre and post work for various meetings and reports, including content management, presentation development and meeting minutes.
  • Communicate regularly with key internal and external partners on needs, updates, requests and etc.


YOUR PROFILE

  • Bachelor’s Degree or similar level of higher education in business, sports management, project management or related field
  • A minimum experience of 5 years in Strategy or Planning.
  • Experience with mega sport events, ideally coupled with a solid understanding of local (North America) stakeholders and their dynamics at city, state and nation level.
  • Experience of stakeholder management and integration, strategic planning, analysis of operational environments and use of tools to monitor and progress and identify issues.
  • Proven track record in managing complex projects, preferably international sports events.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and under pressure.
  • High level of presentation and communication skills.
  • Fluent in English. Spanish and/or French proficiency is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio & Project) and planning software and online collaboration tools
