Job Summary:

The Community Impact Seasonal Assistant is responsible for aiding in the development, implementation, and progression of a wide range of programs for the sports and entertainment group. Centered around enhancing the lives of children through the power of sport, community impact assistants provide seasonal support in one of three main areas – outreach and engagement, sport participation and growth, or fundraising and development.

Key Responsibilities:

Outreach and Engagement

  • Assist with the research, development, execution, and evaluation of community impact programming focused on supporting youth wellness, youth education and League initiatives.
  • Support community-based and in-venue events including youth-focused programming, athlete or front office appearances, and special experiences.
  • Aid with all facets of the memorabilia donation program such as responding to email inquiries, reviewing/approving requests, and packaging items for distribution.
  • Assist in creating program summaries for the website, social media, and team publications in cooperation with the media relations and marketing departments.
  • Responsible for general correspondences with fans in response to written and email inquiries including fan pack requests, birthday recognition, anniversary recognition, letters of encouragement, and letters of bereavement.

Sport Participation and Growth

  • Assist with the research, development, execution, and evaluation of youth sport participation programming focused on growing the game of baseball or hockey locally and supporting League-generated game growth initiatives.
  • Support community-based and in-venue events including grassroots youth sports programming, equipment collections and distributions, athlete or front office appearances, and special experiences.
  • Assist in creating program summaries for the website, social media, and team publications in cooperation with the media relations and marketing departments.
  • Responsible for maintaining the youth sports athlete and parent database, including regular correspondence to ensure continued connection with the team.

Fundraising and Development

  • Support all aspects of the 50/50 Raffle program, including hiring and management of part-time employees, daily financial accounting of cash and credit card transactions, management and troubleshooting of program assets (technology, kiosks, equipment), development and delivery of sales techniques for staff/volunteers.
  • Assist with research, development, execution, and evaluation of opportunities to increase fan interaction with the foundation through new, innovative fundraising programs and events.
  • Support all charitable events and programs for the team foundation.
  • Assist with administrative procedures and processes to maintain fiscal accountability and control; maintain budget database and provide periodic reports related to expenditures, as well as monetary and in-kind donations.
  • Support and manage donor database; prepare donor relations correspondence including drafting letters and handling tax-related documents.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • The ideal candidate must be at least a college senior or recent college graduate.
  • The ideal candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ideal candidate must have excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • The ideal candidate must possess analytic, strategic, communications, and interpersonal skills.
  • The ideal candidate must be available full-time.
  • The ideal candidate must be willing to work longs hours, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.
