This position is responsible for assisting the video department in filming and editing video of practices, games, and player workouts for the Detroit Lions. This position will be responsible for maintaining the video library and assisting with special coaching projects as needed. This position may also, occasionally, assist in retrieving short and long-form content for other departments, assisting with other events at the Detroit Lions training facility and Ford Field from a setup standpoint and assisting with AV responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (including, but not limited to):
Videography
- Assist with filming video of practices, games, and player workouts for coaches/personnel department
- Film sideline (All-22 Camera) or endzone.
- Known usage of 8K mastRcam cameras
- Knowledge of DVSport Rewind and StillShot software
- Assist with League video requests
- Record clinic tapes for coaches which are sanctioned by the Lions and the NFL
- Satisfy any audio or video needs of coaches, personnel, players, and staff at the Detroit Lions Training Facility and Ford Field
Game Day Responsibilities
- Pack equipment in preparation for home and away games
- Travel to all home and away games
- Set-up video in meeting rooms at team hotel (away games) and be on site during team meetings the night before a game
- Test and set up DVSport StillShot system for home and away teams at all home games
- Take inventory of equipment and assist with loading/unloading of equipment to Allen Park Training Facility
Video Library
- Ingest pro and college footage into non-linear editing system (Catapult Thunder)
- Convert video to various formats for player, personnel and coaches iPads
- Keep general organization of video library within Catapult
- Responsible for testing Catapult Thunder and making sure it is accessible to staff
Editing/Producing
- Perform basic editing using Catapult Thunder
- Able to produce video cutups upon request
Other Responsibilities
- Keep inventory of equipment
- Properly maintain all equipment associated with the department which will include weekly cleaning and arranging for maintenance when needed
NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

GENERAL DUTIES:
- Will maintain an appropriate level of knowledge of Microsoft Office and of other equipment, tools, and software being used
- Will maintain an appropriate level of knowledge of Catapult Thunder/ThunderCloud, and other software being used
- Will maintain an appropriate level of knowledge of camera and equipment being used
- Will actively participate in organizational meetings, providing input and suggestions related to Video and other areas as needed
- Must be motivated, reliable, and able to work independently or as part of a team
- Maintains professionalism when communicating with internal and external contacts
- Must be accurate and efficient with ability to meet deadlines
- Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills
- Will adjust work schedule to meet departmental demands which includes working long hours at home and away games which will include working late nights, early mornings, weekends, and holidays in addition to regular office hours.
- Will keep appropriate information confidential
- Will accept other responsibilities and duties required by the supervisor consistent with the objectives and essential functions of this position. Such responsibilities shall be incorporated into the position description if they are ongoing
- Will advise supervisor if actual practice (activity) begins to deviate significantly from specified essential functions
LICENSING or CERTIFICATIONS:
- A valid Driver’s License and a good driving record required
- License to operate a lift strongly preferred
- 8K mastRcam functionality
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; preferred areas of study include videography, digital media, sports management, radio/television, and film
- 2 years of professional level football experience in video to include Catapult and DVSport
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
- Experience with video camera operation of professional broadcast/ENG cameras, 8K mastRcam and various formats of recording content
- Comprehensive knowledge in Microsoft Office
- Comprehensive knowledge of Catapult and DVSport
- Comprehensive knowledge of scouting websites (i.e. Pro Football Focus, Telemetry)
- Be able to edit proficiently in Avid and Final Cut Pro
- Audio Visual background preferred
- Must be able to adjust schedule as needed to meet work goals and time constraints, including working nights, weekends, and holidays as football schedule directs
- Maintain professionalism when speaking with professional athletes and coaches
