Colorado Rapids Soccer Club based in Commerce City, CO, aspires to be a global leader in club safe sport practices. We believe in the importance of safeguarding all club stakeholders from abuse, harassment, and other types of misconduct and are dedicated to providing educational opportunities to individuals who share our passion for safe sport.

Position Summary

We are seeking motivated college students, graduate students, or early career professionals to join our Safe Sport Internship Program. This 9-month program offers participants the opportunity to gain valuable experience in shaping a best-in-class safeguarding department within a professional soccer club. Upon completion of the internship program, participants will have the requisite knowledge and experience to contribute effectively to a safeguarding team in an entry-level role. Participants will also have gained critical sports governance practical skills.

Internship Overview:

  • Time commitment: 29 hours per week
  • Internship duration: October 2024 to June 2025
  • Location: Hybrid – Denver, CO and Remote

Internship Outcomes

  • Acquire practical job skills, including drafting, case management, project management, research and delivery of educational programs.

Responsibilities

  • Attendance at daily safe sport departmental meeting.
  • Evaluate and develop club safe sport policy and educational programs.
  • Assist with case management and risk evaluation.
  • Legal research.
  • Assist with implementation and monitoring of safe sport policy adherence practices throughout the organization.
  • Support the development of content for safe sport webpage.
  • Club policy drafting.
  • Other sports governance, compliance or special projects work as assigned.

Compensation

  • $18.29 per hour

Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in college or graduate school, or early in their professional career.
  • Demonstrated interest in athlete safety, child protection, social work, legal or related fields.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to upholding high standards of athlete care and confidentiality.
  • Upholds values of integrity and transparency.
