The Chicago White Sox seek a Motion Designer for Scoreboard Productions, responsible for spearheading creative vision and crafting captivating content for in-game stadium video boards. This role involves collaborating with editors and designers, utilizing Adobe After Effects and the Creative Cloud suite to deliver compelling motion designs that bring the brand to life during live game events. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in stadium-centric graphic design, adaptability to client needs, and an ability to thrive under pressure while managing multiple tasks effectively.
- Responsible for the creative vision and direction of output across team members who work within the scoreboard operations department.
- Pitch ideas confidently and communicate the creative vision clearly to the department as well as to communicate to members of the creative team
- Set accurate estimates on delivery expectations and send status updates to key stakeholders
- Lead multiple projects from conception to completion and within timeline
- Meet fast-paced deadlines
- Effectively lead graphics for the scoreboard operations team
- Communicate to freelance designers for all commercial production and company branded projects
- Interpret marketing and programming strategy to deliver compelling graphics and visuals
- Portray diverse storytelling with motion graphics, animation and/or footage
- Produce assets that are both strategically and creatively exceptional
- Contribute to studio culture, inspire others
- Ability to understand and contribute to creative strategy
- Design or convert storyboards into compelling motion graphics that contain images, typography and/or audio
- Manage priorities and workload effectively to meet expectations and deadlines
- Comfortable and confident interfacing with clients for presentations and project management
- Work in partnership with strategic and account team to understand and manage client needs
- Generate compelling, innovative creative (e.g., trailers, TV spots, digital assets, etc.) for promotional content
- Demonstrate the ability to create graphic elements as needed and ensure that design is coordinated with the style guide and brand
- BFA/BS/BA in Applied Design & Video Production
- Strong experience in current production and post-production techniques
- Expertise in Adobe After-Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, and 3D software (such as Cinema 4D) a plus
- Strong creative critical thinking skills
- Strong understanding of storytelling/narrative structure, pacing, graphics, music, shot selection and all key aspects of audio visual content
- Minimum of 5-7 years television production experience in producing lead ideas, brand guide and design
- Solid understanding of art production process
- Natural born communicator, connecting the dots when others cannot and simplifying complex issues and questions
- Solid verbal and written presentation skills
- Successfully manages time, process and workflow
- Work Effectively in a team setting, synthesizing abstract ideas into concrete design implications.
- Solid background in current Design, Photography and Visual Arts, Pop Culture and Counterculture relevancy
- Operate control room equipment on game days as needed
