The Ideal Candidate:

This role is pivotal in growing the game of hockey by developing and executing a range of hockey programs on and off the ice. The ideal candidate will play a key role in expanding the Chicago Blackhawks' presence in youth, high school, and adult hockey, ensuring exceptional program delivery, and maintaining strong partnerships with stakeholders.

The Top Shelf:

The Amateur Hockey Programs Coordinator is responsible for executing Chicago Blackhawks’ amateur hockey programs. This role involves developing, implementing, and executing various programs aimed at developing a love for the game of hockey and the Chicago Blackhawks as well as improving the skills, knowledge, and overall experience of hockey players, parents, coaches, teams, and rink partners.

How You’ll Contribute:

  • Develop and implement on-ice and off-ice hockey programs for various age and skill levels.
  • Coordinate scheduling, staffing, and logistics on-ice and off-ice hockey programs, including serving as the primary point of contact for participants.
  • Administer Chicago Blackhawks program leagues, including rule development, scheduling, and record keeping.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with ice rink owners, operators, and program directors.
  • Provide insights and sales channels for the Corporate Partnership and Membership departments.
  • Support existing partnerships and explore innovative ways to generate revenue through partnership opportunities and enhanced programming.
  • Ensure efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines by monitoring budgets associated with department programs.
  • Implement and enforce safety guidelines and protocols to ensure the well-being of participants, including properly documenting incidents.
  • Train, schedule, and supervise part-time support staff as needed.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and occasional travel.

Player Stats and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in the business field or recreation management
  • Preferred 1 - 3 years of program and league management experience
  • Ability to skate and understands the game of hockey
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills, with attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in organizing and coordinating sports programs, preferably in hockey.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using software for scheduling, registration, and data management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • A demonstrated ability to manage effectively towards outcomes.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 20 lbs.
