POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Director of Business Analytics will be responsible for advancing data-driven decision-making across the Buffalo Bills organization, focusing on increasing revenue, enhancing fan engagement, and improving operational efficiency. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience leveraging data within a sports organization, including structuring, warehousing, and visualizing data effectively; developing and monitoring data-driven KPIs; designing and executing data-driven experiments; and solving critical business challenges through analysis. This new role will streamline all tools and platforms within the Bills’ data ecosystem and serve as a strategic thought partner to department leaders across the organization.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with business stakeholders to create and implement a data roadmap focused on: (1) enabling data-driven decision-making, (2) establishing a single source of truth, and (3) improving organizational transparency and accountability
- Recruit, hire, and lead a team of technical specialists (e.g., Business Analysts, Data Engineers, CRM Analysts, and Data Scientists) to serve as strategic advisors and objective data resources throughout the organization
- Assess the Bills’ current data vendor stack and evolve the tech stack to enhance data capabilities, usage, and adoption
- Develop and lead predictive modeling efforts to inform strategic decisions (e.g., retention modeling, purchase propensity)
- Lead ticket pricing, product mix, and buyer-type analyses and synthesize findings into concise, actionable recommendations
- Drive the Bills’ secondary market ticketing strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders
- Support sponsorship initiatives, including category and asset valuation analyses, consumer and brand research, and performance tracking and reporting
- Create function-specific, executive-level dashboards to monitor and communicate organization-wide KPIs
- Identify and implement improvements in reporting and research methodologies
- Manage the Bills’ data infrastructure to ensure compliance with NFL data privacy policies
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field; Master’s degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience in data analytics, data science, data engineering, or business intelligence, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role, preferably within the sports industry
- Proven success in transforming raw data into actionable insights, communicating findings to stakeholders, and driving value across multiple business functions (e.g., ticketing, sponsorship, and marketing)
- Prior experience in recruiting, hiring, and leading a cross-functional, interdisciplinary team
- Demonstrated ability to source, build, and manage a data vendor stack that ensures data integrity and enhances data utilization
- Strong foundation in data governance, data warehousing, and ETL processes
- Hands-on experience developing and implementing predictive models to forecast trends, behaviors, and KPIs; proficient in R, Python, and SQL
- Expert knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI); proven experience developing dashboard suites centered on clarity, accuracy, and effective storytelling
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrated experience in making data insights accessible to diverse audiences
- Availability to work non-traditional hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
