Grounds Person (Fixed Term Contract)

We are looking for a Grounds Person on a Fixed term basis to join our team and ensure the maintenance and general upkeep of our Borehamwood playing surface.

Your day-to-day

  • Maintaining our world class playing surface through the efficient delivery of activities including hand and ride on cutting of grass, marking out, divoting, fertilising, spraying, irrigation management, manual watering, tractor and trailer work.
  • Assisting with the renovation of pitches using relevant equipment and processes such as tractor and trailer work, sand spreading etc.
  • Renovating grass areas using a wide range of machinery such as turf cutters, edgers, scarification, aeration machinery and seeders.
  • Marking out pitches.
  • Assisting with deliveries, including manual handling of 20-25kg bags of sand, sand soil, fertiliser, and seed.

Please note, this role requires individuals to work flexibly. Weekend work will be required.




What we are looking for

  • A minimum NVQ level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in green keeping and groundsmanship.
  • Previous experience in all aspects of grounds keeping, working to a high standard looking after sports turf/playing surfaces and amenity landscapes.
  • Experience using a wide range of turf care and renovation equipment such as cylinder mowers, ride on mowers, scarification equipment, and an SGL lighting system.
  • A meticulous approach to work in a role where attention to detail is essential.
  • Good understanding of the latest health and safety legislation, particularly relating to use of equipment.
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and using own initiative.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to delegate work and motivate others.
