Job Title: Industrial Placement – Quality Engineer

Reports To: Senior Quality Engineer

Direct Reports:

Department: Quality Engineering

Role Purpose:

Support Senior Quality Engineer in delivering projects that impact Operations.
Support the data driven and systematic work that supports Operations.
Provide a training ground for early years in motorsport to deduce individual strengths, areas of interest and career ambitions for potential future employment.

Main Duties:

Quality Data and Management of Quality Dashboards:
- Conduct, report and present Non-conformance-report (NCR) data analysis and tracking.
- Provide management and support for other departments completing their NCRs.
- Develop reporting methods, to ensure the data provided drives better decision making for users.
- Support NCR users by being present and reporting in relevant meetings.

Support Development of greater Inspection data capture:
- Involved in projects relating to how data is captured within inspection/monitoring areas.
- Developing a better data capture loop across the company.

Quality Investigations:
- For issues identified trackside, which relate to the Operations Projects and Inspection data capture, conduct full root cause analysis.
- Ensure the root cause analysis allows suitable assignment to those responsible.
- Suggest, drive and/or implement preventative actions.
- Develop/Track the impact of quality investigations.

Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Creation and Management
- Support other departments to create SOPs, ensuring they have a value of implementation
- Support other departments on managing SOP approval loops, ensuring they have had appropriate checks.
- Provide management and support for the implementation and release of SOPs.
- Develop reporting methods, to ensure SOP creation, management and compliance is adhered to.
Continuous Improvement Projects
- Identify suitable projects that would largely benefit the business.
- Present and create business plans to show project scope, impact and required resource
- Manage and support continuous improvement projects, from creation to implementation.
- Manage and support the tracking of continuous improvement projects that have been delivered.
- Report and present to senior leadership, on the status and success of projects and recommended next steps.

Core competencies:

When shortlisting student placement applications for our placement within Quality, we look for:

Relevant subjects at university in subjects ranging from Engineering, Manufacturing or Business are welcome to apply.
Students will have a minimum of two years’ experience at University before the placement starts.

By the time the placement begins, you must have at least one academic year of study remaining after your placement, whether this is in at undergraduate or master’s level. You must be enrolled onto this course prior to your year with us starting. When applying, please make it clear in your CV what your expected year of completion is to ensure you are correctly placed as eligible for the programme.

Core Skills:

In addition to the above, candidates should be:

Have an interest in continuous improvement
Experience in data analysis and business systems (beneficial but not required)

You don’t have to have a specific Interest in Formula 1 we are looking for people with a keen interest in STEM subjects and creative minds and knowledge to develop the next winning Formula 1 car.

Application Process:

The application process will consist of submitting a CV, covering letter and answering some questions on workday. Your CV will go through an initial screening with our talent acquisition team. You will then be invited to complete an online psychometric testing where you will have 72 hours to complete. The results of these tests, in addition to your application will then go through a further screening by our talent acquisition team and hiring managers. Once selected you will be invited to an assessment centre which will have the option of online or virtually.

Students that are shortlisted will be invited to attend an onsite or virtual assessment day. These assessment days are scheduled to take place in the first few weeks of December.

All assessments in the recruitment process are in English: this is the primary language used within the organisation and you need a good level of written and spoken English in the Industrial Placement role.
