San Antonio Spurs Sports & Entertainment is seeking a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach for a full-time, seasonal position for the 2024-2025 Austin Spurs G-League season. The selected individual will actively participate in all phases of athletic performance and sports science programs, providing support to the team’s performance, sports medicine, and operations staff as assigned.
What You’ll Do:
- Support various aspects of athletic performance and sports science operations for both the Austin and San Antonio Spurs, as assigned.
- Plan, develop, and implement periodized strength and conditioning programs for athletes in a collaborative, team-based environment alongside coaches.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of evaluation, strength, corrective, and recovery programs for the Austin Spurs.
- Facilitate sports science data collection and entry into the organization’s online data management system.
- Assist with internal research and development projects as required.
- Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the weight room and cardio room.
- Deliver high-quality, professional, and comprehensive services across all areas of responsibility.
- Provide support to the equipment manager and team dietitian with various tasks as needed.
Who You Are:
- Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or alike
- Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (CSCS) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA)
- Experience in coaching as a strength and conditioning coach in a team sport environment; background working with athletes from a performance training perspective and have an understanding of principles of strength, conditioning, speed, agility, mobility, flexibility, and injury prevention as it relates to athletes.
- High level of competence with MS Excel and experience with data management
- Valid driver’s license
- Strong operational ability with an attention to detail
- Experience working in a dynamic team environment
- Communication skills
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Possess a strong work ethic
- Must be punctual and accountable every day
- Must be trustworthy and have a positive attitude
- The ability to multitask and complete multiple jobs at once
- Willingness to learn from a wide variety of medical, performance and basketball operations professionals
- Ability to communicate with medical, performance, technical, equipment, and administration staff
- Excellent email and telephone communication skills
- Requires weekend and holiday work, 40+ hours/week and travel
