Job Summary

The Pittsburgh Pirates are in search of a talented software engineer and valued member of the Baseball Operations’ Research & Development team. This position will primarily focus on front-end development for our new single platform designed to centralize information for players, coaches, and front-office personnel and drive data-driven decision-making throughout Baseball Operations. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who is motivated to build a product that transforms how the Pirates organization consumes and collaborates around data as it strives to make better in-game decisions, acquire and develop the best talent, and win championships. We welcome applicants interested in various work arrangements—be it remote, local, or hybrid—as we prioritize assembling a diverse and adaptable team to excel in this position.

Responsibilities:

  1. Build easy-to-use frontend applications specifically designed for baseball operations. Create reusable parts and code that can grow and stay easy to manage over time.
  2. Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and implement solutions aligned with operational needs.
  3. Drive improvements to the user interface and user experience, incorporating feedback to optimize usability.
  4. Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to ensure high performance and reliability.
  5. Review code thoroughly to ensure quality and scalability.
  6. Create and maintain technical documentation to facilitate knowledge transfer and future development.
  7. Stay updated on industry trends, propose innovative ideas, and integrate new technologies to elevate existing systems.
