SUMMARY: The Data Engineer role is part of the Business Strategy & Analytics team and primarily responsible for optimizing the Snowflake data ecosystem. This role will ensure the Vikings maintain a strong data platform for insights to be generated and decisions made from. They will also find ways to grow our prowess in first party and third-party data. Additionally, the Data Engineer will play a pivotal role in increasing the knowledge base and education of Vikings staff members on the data ecosystem so that analytical efforts have expanding impact. The ideal candidate will be skilled from a technical standpoint, as well as possess strong interpersonal and communication skills necessary in order to properly navigate a fast-paced organization and grow within the organization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to):

  • Create and/or maintain system entity relationship diagrams
  • Operationalize, maintain, and optimize the internal database
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across organization to optimize database environment
  • Participate in various stages of the database lifecycle – design, implementation, testing, maintenance (e.g., ETL and hygiene), analysis and planning
  • Onboard new data sources, technologies and/or processes
  • Maintain operational knowledge of all data in both raw and structured format
  • Lead internal and external data warehouse communications with vendor(s)
  • Partner with Business Strategy & Analytics team and broader data stewards internally
  • Recommend and advocate for data policies, governance structures and control frameworks for the ongoing management of data
  • Identify areas for data quality improvement by participating and prescribe solutions
  • Other duties as assigned within Business Analytics and Data Privacy



The Ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Experience with Snowflake
  • Experience with APIs, FTPs, and other forms of transferring data
  • Experience with Python preferred
  • Experience with sports consumer specific data and supporting mediums (Data warehouses, Marketing Automation Tools, Ticketing Systems, CRM, etc.)
  • Strong SQL language experience
  • Knowledge of business analytics and business intelligence teams
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently under pressure
