The Purpose:
The Marketing Operations Manager will play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency, effectiveness, and integration of Manchester United's Central Marketing team. This role involves designing and implementing streamlined processes and protocols, managing budgets, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure consistency and excellence in marketing operations.

The Role:

  • Design, document, and implement processes and protocols that enhance the efficiency of Central Marketing operations.
  • Train team members on these processes to ensure they are well-understood and effectively utilised.
  • Collaborate with marketing and club colleagues to continually refine processes for optimal effectiveness.
  • Oversee the implementation of a new digital platform to standardise project management across marketing functions.
  • Ensure the platform provides visibility into all projects and campaigns, including resource allocation for creative and content teams.
  • Explore the integration of AI tools to automate processes and improve efficiency.
  • Facilitate budget planning in collaboration with Marketing, Campaign, and Production Managers.
  • Monitor ongoing budget spend and provide monthly financial reports to senior marketing leadership.
  • Take responsibility for the Marketing Operations budget, ensuring financial efficiency and transparency.
  • Support significant marketing campaigns and projects managed by the Marketing Operations team.
  • Collaborate with Central Marketing teams on reporting and oversee Marketing Operations reporting, including weekly reports for senior management.
  • Work closely with the Central Marketing team and other departments to support key events, such as match days, player appearances, club anniversaries, and activations.
  • Be prepared to travel domestically and internationally to support major events and projects.
  • Act as the Marketing Operations support on cross-club projects, ensuring alignment and effective execution.

The Person:

  • Degree in marketing, Business Administration, or qualified by experience.
  • Proven experience in marketing operations or a similar role within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong project management skills with experience implementing digital tools and platforms.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to enable strong collaboration across departments.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage budgets and provide detailed reports.
  • Experience in leading and supporting large-scale marketing campaigns.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work under pressure.
  • Passion for sports and an understanding of the football industry is a plus.
