You’ll deliver Day-to-day leadership of the grounds team to help achieve shared targets and ensure world class playing surfaces are maintained throughout the calendar year. You’ll have plenty of support from your line manager and the Head of Grounds who have a wealth of experience to support your growth and development.

The successful candidate will follow a range of operational processes and procedures to deliver specific outputs, adapting their approach depending on circumstance and their professional and/or technical experience to ensure the highest standards are maintained.

Your Impact

  1. Focus

Provide operational delivery and guidance of a service; co-ordinating day-to-day activities and outputs across the service working alongside supervision.

Lead and deliver the day to day the operation within their specific area/project; supporting delivery to time, cost, and quality standards.

  1. Planning & organising

Contribute to the delivery of operational services, either as an individual contributor or through a small specialist service delivery team.

Planning is primarily focused across daily / weekly horizons

  1. Comms & influence

Inform and advise on project outputs through the appliance of sound technical knowledge, and the building of rational arguments, to support decision making.

  1. Problem Solving

Plan, implement and contribute to regular reviews of operational activities, including processes, practices, and procedures within area of delivery specialism. Latitude to identify and operationalise opportunities for improvement.

  1. Challenge

Define and select the appropriate delivery mechanisms within their operational area, using expertise and agility to reference a wide range of solutions and reporting of emerging issues.

  1. Decision making

Outputs will be focused primarily on the delivery of operational team outputs. Whilst work will be under managerial supervision.

  1. Impact

Focus of role will be on the delivery of operational outputs from an area of a specialism. Work will impact on specific area of responsibility.

What we are looking for

Essential

  • Experience motivating and leading a team daily.
  • Clear and engaging communication skills.
  • The ability to work in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience monitoring and evaluating the work of others and developing staff towards continuous improvement.
  • Budget awareness and ordering.
  • Strong knowledge and implementation of Health And Safety.
  • A good level of PC literacy.
  • A thorough understanding of grounds maintenance systems and their application including maintenance of reinforced pitches, preferably
  • Desso, SIS, Hero and Fibresand, full understanding of automatic irrigation systems and SGL lighting rig deployment and service.
  • Extensive experience working with playing surfaces.
  • Supervisory experience as a supervisory grounds person or similar desirable.
  • NVQ L3 Turf Management
  • Pesticides Application PA1,2 and 6

Desirable

  • Experience with Turf lighting equipment
  • Experience working for a professional Football Club
