We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join our Liverpool FC team as a Financial Planning & Analysis Apprentice. In this varied role, you will support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team with aspects of financial planning and analysis, aligned to the key deadlines and deliverables of the team, specifically relating to the Operations and Football divisions.

What will you be doing?

  • Support with financial analysis and data to support the team with a commitment to timely and accurate provision of financial information to help support the reputational excellence of the team.
  • Support the Finance Business Partner with collating data and information for the monthly Operations packs as well as regular Matchday flash reporting and any other adhoc requests.
  • Support of the Finance Business Partners when required in all aspects of financial data, KPI’s, budget and forecast information to enable better decision making and ensure financial control within the business.
  • Take ownership of monthly provision of Payroll actual data, so the Finance Business Partner can fully understand any key movements by person, department and division on a monthly basis, to feed into the forecast process.
  • Support the Finance Business Partners with any Capex information required in order to ensure that we have an updated actualised position on a monthly basis.
  • Work collaboratively and cross functionally with the departments to deliver upon all aspects of financial information required.
  • Adhoc work set out by the Finance Business Partner.
  • Work collaboratively across the FP&A and Finance team to ensure that we are working towards aligned goals and standards.
  • Commit to work towards and complete training, exams and work relating to the Level 7 Apprenticeship and CIMA qualification.
  • Take a proactive approach to data collation and production, ensuring we understand trends in data / spends and is escalated as required.
  • Support the FP&A team as a whole in order to continuing look for best practice, new ways of working and continuous improvement.

Who are we looking for?

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong academic background and will hold either lower-level accountancy or tax qualification, be degree educated, or have related finance work experience. Being highly numerate with strong attention to detail, you can create insights from a variety of data sources and provide support in recommendations to Finance Business Partners. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel.

With your excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you have the confidence and credibility to foster close relationships across different levels and gain regular feedback at all levels. You will be diligent with a proactive approach and have the ability to manage priorities simultaneously with tight timeframes whilst keeping a close eye on priorities. Having a strong work ethic, you will be able to balance completing the CIMA qualification with your day to day work duties.
