Line Cook (Part-Time)

Pacers Sports & Entertainment is seeking a professional line cook to prepare food to the exact specifications of the Executive Chef. The line cook's daily tasks will consist of assisting the Executive Chef and Sous Chef with daily meal preparation, as well as cleaning responsibilities. We are looking for someone that will play a role in providing high quality, locally sourced food to a sports team, while maintaining the high standard of food quality, cleanliness, professionalism, and discretion set in place by the Executive Chef.

This position is expected to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and possibly holidays. Hours will vary from week to week depending on the team's practice, game, and travel schedule.

Should candidates make it to the final interview, they will be expected to participate in a hands-on cooking demonstration.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up chafing dishes for service and stock the lounge / meal area with necessary supplies.
  • Prepare food for services (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meats, preparing sauces or cold prep, etc.)
  • Answer, report, and follow the Executive Chef or Sous Chef's instructions.
  • Assist with replenishing and maintaining the cleanliness of the buffet.
  • Stock inventory and dry storage appropriately following strict food safety storage guidelines.
  • Ensure food maintains high quality nutritional standards.
  • Comply with kitchen safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Clean and maintain the kitchen, as well as all kitchen equipment.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional approach with players, staff, and all members of PS&E.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience. At least five years of recent hands-on kitchen experience.
  • Proven industry cooking experience as a line cook or prep cook.
  • Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
  • Strong knife skills including an understanding of different knife types and uses, thorough knowledge of knife cuts, and knife safety.
  • Accuracy and speed in completing assigned tasks with a focus on following the Executive Chef's precise direction.
  • Familiarity with industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A high level of professionalism and discretion.
