Indiana Fever Season Athletic Trainer

The Indiana Fever Season Athletic Trainer will provide athletic training services to players and personnel of the Indiana Fever. This position provides critical support for the Indiana Fever organization in terms of healthcare and game day preparations, and they are expected to successfully uphold all WNBA policies, procedures, and bylaws. This position will last for the duration of the Indiana Fever season, approximately May to September.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in providing evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of injuries for athletes as commensurate with qualifications
  • Provide medical coverage to the team if certified during practice, shoot around, and game day in addition to court set-up for home games
  • Communicate athlete illness, injury, and player health complaints to the Director of Medical Services and coaching staff
  • Connect with sports performance staff and knowledge of strength and conditioning programs, including assisting in the coordination of group and individualized injury prevention programming
  • Facilitate performing sports science testing including but not limited to movement pattern analysis, Functional Movement Systems, Y-balance Test, and Landing Error Scoring System, Dynamometry
  • Observe and learn how to complete a medical record in the WNBA EMR
  • Lead the organization and management of the athletic training room including ordering supplies
  • Provide taping, bracing, and first aid to the players
  • Assist with ongoing communication with sports dietitians and sports psychologists for patient care
  • Aid in notifying athletes of WNBA drug testing program
  • Support in managing and execution of emergency action plans including communication, EMS activation, AED/CPR delivery and post-event reporting to Director of Medical Services and Head Team Physician
  • Responsible for adhering to all PSE and Indiana Fever policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws, and interpretations of the WNBA
  • Assist in packing and resupplying for road games
  • Act as liaison and communicate with away teams athletic training staff to ensure their needs are met
  • Other duties as assigned


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a valid driverโ€™s license
  • Enrolled in or graduate from a college or university in a CAATE athletic training program
  • Athletic Training License is preferred but not required
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience is preferred but not required
  • CRP / AED certified


AVAILABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Expected hours: 30 hours per week
  • Must be available to work during the evenings, weekends, and nights
