Equipment Assistant (Part-Time)

The Equipment Assistant (Part-Time) is responsible for assisting the equipment department with organization of the equipment room, laundry needs, accommodating visiting teams, and assisting with game day operations. Additional responsibilities include handling all laundry and organization when team is on the road, and assisting the equipment department with coordination and administration of athletic clothing, footwear and accessory equipment for Indiana Pacers players, coaching staff and basketball department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide a clean and safe locker room and equipment room environment. This will include folding towels, laundry, and any other necessary tasks associated with equipment needs.
  • Assist with practices and home game-day shoot arounds for the Pacers and visiting teams as needed, including but not limited to assisting the visiting team locker room.
  • Assist with road team practices, shootarounds and equipment load ins for teams visiting Indianapolis.
  • Assist with laundering all player and coach practice gear at the practice facility.
  • Assist with game-day setup of home locker room, breakdown of court after practice and shootarounds, unboxing of the annual Nike order, distribution of team gear to players, coaches and training and support staff as directed.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment room, locker room, shower room and hydro room.
  • Ensure locker room is appropriately stocked and maintained with adequate toiletries and clean towel supply.
  • Assist with sending and receiving all packages. Serve as the main point of contact for shipping and receiving while team is on the road.
  • Ensure all laundry is complete and ready for team upon return from road trips.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule that includes nights, weekends, and potentially holidays.
  • All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Prior experience in athletics and coordination of equipment is highly preferred.
  • Annual or biannual CPR/AED training is required.
  • Driverโ€™s license is required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Employee should have knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and general data entry. Ability to learn new systems and adapt new technology.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret instructions and reports. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from manager, clients, customers, and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret directions and technical diagrams. Ability to interpret directions.
