Job Summary:

The Play-by-Play Announcer will be responsible for providing commentary and analysis for sixty-six (66) Flying Tigers regular season live-stream game broadcasts. The Announcer will collaborate with the game producer and broadcast engineer to produce high quality live stream broadcast coverage for all Flying Tigers home games.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide real-time commentary and analysis during live broadcasts of Lakeland Flying Tigers games. This includes describing the action, player performances, and game strategy.

  • Conduct pre-game and post-game shows to discuss team news, player statistics, and analysis. This may involve interviews with players, coaches, and other team personnel.

  • Thoroughly research teams, players, and statistics before each game to provide insightful commentary. This includes staying informed about the latest news and trends in Major League Baseball or Minor League Baseball.

  • Clearly and concisely communicate play-by-play information to the audience. Develop a dynamic and engaging broadcasting style to keep listeners or viewers entertained and informed.

  • Follow broadcasting guidelines and standards, including ethical considerations and FCC regulations. Maintain professionalism on air and represent the team and broadcasting organization positively.

  • Engage with the audience through various mediums, such as social media, to build a connection and respond to questions or comments. Foster a sense of community among fans.

  • Be adaptable to changes in the game, unexpected events, or technical issues. Handle challenging situations with composure and maintain focus on delivering quality commentary.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Previous experience as a play-by-play announcer, preferably in baseball or other sports.

  • A deep understanding of baseball rules, strategies, and player dynamics.

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to convey excitement and enthusiasm on air.

  • Strong research abilities to prepare for each game thoroughly.

  • Familiarity with broadcasting equipment, software, and social media platforms.

  • Ability to work effectively with production crews, color commentators, and other team members.

Working Conditions:

  • Office & Outdoor Stadium Environment.

  • Irregular and extended hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
