Job Purpose: The Applied Biomechanics Associate is to work as a part of the Applied Sports Science staff to facilitate Applied Biomechanics initiatives at the Reds Player Development Complex in order to aid in the development and optimization of player health and performance. Applied Biomechanics, as defined in this instance, is the application of biomechanics to improve player development, health, and performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Support the delivery of actionable information that enables the integration between Major League and Player Development staff, Health & Performance staff, and other stakeholders within Baseball Operations. Support Applied Biomechanics analysis and R&D to generate insights within Pitching and Hitting initiatives. Assist with the management of biomechanics data which may include tasks such as data entry, cleaning, statistical analysis, written and visual reports, etc. Responsible for setup, collection, and breakdown of equipment (e.g., force plates, IMUs, motion capture) during biomechanical assessments as needed, including in-game and ad-hoc KinaTrax motion capture. Evaluate the validity, reliability, and feasibility of current and emerging technologies and testing protocols, and support onboarding of adopted technologies as needed. Perform literature and research reviews on topics pertinent to Pitching and Hitting initiatives, staying informed on cutting-edge research, technology, and methods in sports science to continuously improve processes and protocols. Assist with maintenance and inventory of sport science and biomechanics equipment. Support research projects and other Applied Sports Science initiatives as needed. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Creativity, critical thinking, and strong analytical skills to interpret and apply complex information effectively. Ability to exercise independent judgment and efficiently plan, prioritize, and manage a dynamic workload. Strong work ethic and willingness to work long, flexible hours including weekends and holidays. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, displaying ability to convey information effectively through visual, written, digital, and verbal form to diverse stakeholders across Baseball Operations. Demonstrable experience and knowledge of research design and methodology in the applied setting. Ability to conduct basic statistical modeling and analyses (e.g., GLM, LMM, PCA).Proficiency in data programming and software (e.g., R/Python, SQL, MATLAB, Visual3D).Experience, Education, and Licensure: Enrolled in or completed graduate degree program in biomechanics, engineering, sport or exercise science, kinesiology, or related field.> 1 year experience working in sports environments with athletes. Requirements: Spoken and written fluency in English. Willing to relocate. Position is based in Goodyear, AZ at the Reds Player Development Complex.
