The Role of Pre-Academy Lead Development Centre Coach

The successful candidate will assist in the development and implementation of our coaching programme within our development centres to ensure we develop and recruit the best talent available within our catchment area.

Main Accountabilities

  • To ensure that any concerns you observe, or are raised with you in your role, are shared with the Safeguarding Team through appropriate channels.
  • To motivate and develop the individual players whilst working within the Club’s coaching philosophy.
  • To ensure compliance with the Academy coaching standards and code of conduct.
  • To deliver the Brentford FC Academy coaching philosophy as directed to best support player development.
  • To work in collaboration with the Scouting and Recruitment Department for the talent identification, selection and retention of players.
  • Form positive relationships with players and motivate them towards achieving their potential, with particular attention to their wellbeing and holistic development.
  • To work together with parents to create an environment in which all children can thrive and showcase their talent.
  • To have the ability to identify individual strengths and weaknesses with the ability to apply appropriate coaching and tactical development tailored to the individual player.
  • Provide regular formal feedback to players and families through individual meetings / reviews.
  • Attend all relevant coaching CPD events both internally and externally at the request of the Academy Head of Football Development.
  • To work closely with the Lead Foundation Phase Coach U9-U10 to assist transition from U7-U8 into the Academy pathway.

  • To maintain a flexible approach to work at all times.

Person Specification - Essential Personal Characteristics

  • Able to work unsociable hours as required, involving work outside of normal office hours (i.e. evenings, weekends, school holidays and bank holidays)
  • Able to always maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
  • UEFA C License Coaching Qualification or equivalent
  • Experience coaching players from the U6-U9 age groups
  • FA Learning Safeguarding Children Certificate
  • FA Emergency Aid in Football Certificate
  • FA Safeguarding certificate
  • Basic level of IT skills

  • UEFA B License Coaching Qualification
