Job Description

Atlanta United FC is seeking to fill the position of Academy Fitness Coach to work in the organization and execution of the on-field fitness, strength training, and monitoring program for our Academy teams. The professional will play a crucial role in implementing our fitness and training philosophies throughout all of the club’s on-field applications. We seek a creative mind who has the courage to innovate and try new ideas. We seek an individual who wants to be a part of a truly integrated high performance team. The position is based in Atlanta, Georgia and will require minimal domestic travel. The Assistant Academy Fitness Coach reports to the Director of Sports Science. This position is required to engage in collaboration with the entire sports science and technical staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage the planning and implementation of all on-field team training and conditioning needs for Academy players
  • Direct the gym-based performance programs for the top Academy birth years
  • Implement daily recovery strategies for teams at the CHOA Training Ground and during travelling competitions
  • Conduct warm ups for team training sessions and individual reconditioning sessions
  • Manage the GPS and HR monitoring program with daily organization and analysis of data

Required skills, experience & abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science or other related field, Master’s Degree preferred
  • CSCS or equivalent sport performance certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a sporting environment with 1 year in a soccer environment
  • Must have soccer playing experience – Youth Academy to College Level required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population, including strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrate professionalism with both internal and external audiences
  • Able to work independently and with a team
