Arizona Diamondbacks Broadcasting Manager
Reporting to the Director of Broadcasting, the Broadcasting Manager is a full-time position working in the Arizona Diamondbacks’ broadcasting department. This includes - and is not limited to – assigned responsibilities with the D-backs television and radio broadcasts, MLB Local Media (the club’s TV network distribution & production partner), D-backs network radio affiliate partnerships and helping develop content that extends across the team’s omnichannel approach. This role requires strong leadership skills, creativity, teamwork and broadcast expertise plus a deep understanding of the baseball industry.
Responsibilities:
- Support assigned aspects of television and radio broadcasts, as defined by the Director of Broadcasting (DOB), including show content, talent relationships and production quality.
- Facilitate internal department communication to promote their priorities on broadcasts effectively (Marketing, Tickets, Community, Corporate Partnerships, Communications).
- Participate in broadcast content planning process.
- Co-lead broadcasting department meetings with production, marketing, communications and game operations.
- Involved with team’s MLB Local Media relationship, help fulfill MLB broadcast requests and support the promotion of DBACKS.TV to meet subscriber goals.
- Working hours to include team home games in addition to audits of assigned TV & radio road broadcasts.
- Involved with radio affiliate partnerships, work with legal department on agreements. Help manage responsibilities related to Spanish radio and agreements with Mexico radio stations.
- Assist with activation of flagship radio pregame show held at Guy Fieri’s.
- Along with DOB, create, maintain and update radio & TV travel schedules and related budget reports.
- Compile TV ratings and streaming reports.
- Collaborate with the team’s IT department on scheduling platforms.
- Stay current on sports broadcasting news, technologies and trends.
- Contribute ideas for broadcast content posted on social media.
- Troubleshooting contact for technical difficulties.
- Engage in planning for broadcast department’s long term efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in sports broadcasting, preferably in baseball.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Deep understanding of baseball, strategies and history.
- Proficiency in broadcast production software and equipment.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Passion for baseball and the ability to work long hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with a professional sports organization, media network or collegiate athletic department.
- Knowledge of the evolving sports television landscape, digital media and social media.
- Experience with live sports production.
