1st Team Lead Post Match Analyst

The ideal candidate will have an organised and calm approach to work and be able to deal with the time-pressured demands in an elite level environment. They will be able to lead and communicate effectively with colleagues, display a high level of knowledge of football tactics and demonstrate the technical ability required to work with industry-specific software. Candidates should be proactive, forward thinking, having the ability to adapt and be innovative in relation to presentation of information. They should be self-motivated, committed and provide and maintain a high standard with the ability to work under time constraints, often with unsociable hours, as well as being able to build a rapport and function as part of the Analysis department and the backroom staff.

Reports to: Head of Performance & Pre Match Analyst

Budgetary signing limit and commercial framework: TBC

Key Responsibilities

  • Co-ordinate and lead the post match process by presenting detailed and informed analysis to management and coaching staff for each fixture.

  • Providing coaching staff with post match tactical analysis.

  • Support the preparation for matchday for First Team Matches.

  • Analyse, interpret and report specific insights into patterns and trends from both a team and individual perspective.

  • Monitor and feedback competition data providing regular key findings relative to KPI’s and West Ham’s philosophy.

  • Instrumental in maintaining West Ham’s playing philosophy through tactical and technical evidence.

  • Liaise with the first team coaching staff to produce feedback on individuals, units and the team.

  • Support the response to ad hoc queries and requests from management, coaches and players.

  • Contributing to driving standards of practice within the performance analysis department, and throughout the Club.

  • Being proactive in the organisation and implementation of performance analysis-based CPD learning activities.

  • Developing a close working relationship with key members of the Analysis department to aid continual progression and provide a more efficient workflow.

Skillset/experience

  • Significant experience of post-match analysis in a professional sport environment.

  • Experience of providing live match analysis in a stadium environment.

  • An excellent understanding in the use of analysis software, (Hudl SportsCode, SBG Matchtracker and Second Spectrum) video and data analysis techniques, and other associated 3rd party products (Keynote, Wyscout and Tableau);

  • Demonstrate a high level of tactical knowledge.

  • Leadership experience (desirable).

Qualifications

  • BSc in Performance Analysis, Sport Science, or other related subjects.

  • Higher academic qualifications e.g. MSc (desirable).

  • Coaching badges (desirable).
