Manager, Social Responsibility

Job Summary:

The Manager of Social Responsibility will oversee various aspects of the Sacramento Kings Social Responsibility department, including research, development of innovative ideas, creation of detailed plans, building relationships with partner organizations and diverse community partners, implementing and coordinating a range of activities and initiatives which are designed to have a positive impact on the local community. This role will also encompass responsibilities related to youth basketball, such as attending events and supporting program strategy and implementation.

The manager will be a dynamic leader and act as an internal and external representative for organizational priorities and projects, with a specific emphasis on Social Responsibility and youth basketball programs. They will be responsible for raising awareness of the Sacramento Kings community commitments, including initiatives related to youth basketball development and engagement.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

Social Responsibility:

  • Responsible for preparation, development, scheduling, planning, and execution of various Sacramento Kings community and NBA Cares events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Oversee gameday activations, fan experiences, and community kiosks.
  • Work with the Partnership Marketing department to create and implement cause-related marketing efforts.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local community, nonprofit, and school leaders.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to enhance departmental objectives.
  • Support in assisting with the employee volunteer program (LIFT), including volunteer hour tracking, communication, and sourcing volunteer projects.
  • Assist in recruiting and training seasonal and year-round staff.
  • Manage the department’s social media strategy and execution.
  • Support the execution of player, coach, and alumni appearances.
  • Oversee fan mail, community tickets, and donation programs, including oversight of giveaway and autographed merchandise inventory.
  • Administrative tasks related to social responsibility efforts, such as scheduling appointments and meetings, research, data tracking, processing financial documents, and ordering supplies/giveaways.
  • Assist with managing and tracking the department budget.

Youth Basketball:

  • Maintain knowledge of recreation and sports event rules and regulations related to youth basketball programs.
  • Assist youth basketball events including Jr. Kings Clinics, Courtside Classes, etc.
  • Support in coordination of Jr. Kings youth basketball program strategy & implementation and handling administrative duties related to youth basketball initiatives.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Strong time and resource management skills.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in a related field.
  • Meets critical deadlines under flexible circumstances.
  • Computer Skills – Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Canva.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills in all areas of work.
  • Proficient in managing various Social Media platforms.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Desire and ability to work with children.
  • Ability to relate to people of a variety of ages.
  • Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
  • Available to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Local travel is required; must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Compensation

  • The salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000. The compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
